Negative thinking...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Having just finished 'How Positive thinking Fooled America and the World' (Very good rant/book!) I thought I'd ask not about the mythic next album but does anyone reckon that :von: may call it a day after 30 years? Significant anniversary i guess. Hopefully not, but thought I'd indulge in a bit of ultra-negative what if...! Maybe this should be in the tour section. Apologies if so! ;D

There was a rumour going around after the silver bullit tour like this, and if the band did not go down that well with the crowds, that they might give it up, but, what would pay for the cat food, the EastWest royalties can't be that good....
we're better than the birthday party, but not as good as motorhead, that makes us pretty damn good!!!!

The way I see it:
"30" means nothing. It's just a number invented by humanity, in the decimal system, just as "20" or "50" mean nothing. In a different system, based on eights for exapmle, we would perceive a 24, 32 and 40 (whatever they would be called) as "significant".
:von: turned 50 and nothing changed, there was no earthquake on that day, so I hope there will be no earthquake at the 30th anniversary either. Of course it's a great occasion to celebrate and to print the words "birthday party" at gig tickets :notworthy: but I hope that there's nothing more to it than that. Time is what it is, it goes on and there are springs and autumns, summers and winters, better and worse times. The Sisters 2010 have been great, I hope that they will be just as great in 2012. As for 2011, I hope they do whatever they want to do because it's their 30th birthday so a good excuse to do whatever they want to do. Without hassle, stress and strain, without meeting anybody's expectations or answering anybody's speculatuions. It is their birthday, they are the star, and maybe we should think of what we can offer on such an occasion instead of what we can expect? ;-)

To paraphrase noted thespian Troy McClure, who you may remember from such films as Slow Down David Copperfield--What's That Down Your Sock? and The Mediocre Journey: "Who knows what wacky adventures the Sisters will have between now and the time when the band becomes unprofitable?"

i'm wondering if he (they) gonna try twa-nachts-in-row in Poland, on one hand he may expect that it will work (one gig was even sold out 2,3 months before gig, second - if i recall - was close to being sold out too), on the other both nights sucks and crowd gave him knew about that.
it's only good reason to get some money - "30th anniversary tour" looks catchy from promoters side.

Isn't this just another way of rehashing the same old debate that we already have a zillion threads for?
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Meh. I'm not coming unless I can have speed, weed, coke and smoke too. :(

... yeah, naturally so. However, I can easily renounce at speed, weed and coke,
but want to drink to the dead as well ... ... and a nice and strong double espresso with a cig or two afterwards ... ;D ...
