How Andreas Bruhn joined

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I asked Michy Reincke about how he got Andreas in the
band in 1989, and this is what he wrote to me (on 13
October 2010):

Ahoy,
I'm a musician, writer and producer myself and in the end
of the 80's was under contract to WEA with my band Felix
de Luxe.
I knew Andrew Eldritch from running into him regularly in
the company's offices. He asked me - secretly - if I knew
a guitarist who could fit into his band, as he wanted to get
rid of his female guitar player.
Andreas back then was the very young friend of a good
friend of mine. He had catched my attention as a guitarist
and was quite into the requested genre.
I seem to remember he even had posters of Sisters of
Mercy in his room.
So I brought him into contact with Andrew. Andreas was
very happy and thanked me for it.
Geeetings from Hamburg,
Michy Reincke

(Ahoi,
damaligen Gitarristin trennen wollte.
Michy Reincke)

I will not buy this tobacconist - it is scratched.

Reincke's memory mirrors what Andreas remembers.

Perhaps his hovercraft was full of eels.

It's a fair point, but how many on here would have actually heard of them/"support" them if it weren't for :von: ?

True. But finding out about what they stand for means a lot more than the average corporate 'soccer' team IMO.

Like my love for the Oakland Raiders - but now I'm severely OT.

Anyway, Mick Brown seems to have love-ins with various members of the Sisters - ironic in a way.
