Utrecht souncheck?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Has this thread gone from "no, Body and Soul is not part of the soundcheck" to "yes, Body and Soul is part of the soundcheck"? If Dan says that the Body and Soul portion of The Grief matches what he has from the Oxford gig, then I will assume that that part of the soundtrack is mislabeled.

Utrecht soundcheck doesn't contain a full version of body and soul. It's a long time since I listened, so maybe the guitary twiddling contain small pieces of body and soul. maybe that's what they meant. Or it's wrongly labelled. It's one long piece, starting with "black night" then two other instrumental pieces. The whole thing lasts 7 minutes.

Untitled 1 has twiddling then a full version of Body and Soul. Untitled 2 is just "twiddling".

Sorry if this is wrong, but I obtained them at 3am, and finished uploading at 5 am this morning! :urff: I've only listened to them twice.

OK, I'm listening to it now.

1. Black Night (the riff is just recognisable) (Black Night is by Deep Purple, right? Someone correct me if i'm wrong)

at 1.36 theres a pause in the playing and someone breathes into the mic

2. next "song" starts, including a REAL DRUMMER and some voices are heard (maybe the roadies?)

somewhere around 4 minutes the third "song" starts, although really it's continuous playing so I missed where one ended and the other began.

The entire 7 minutes is one continuous recording, and THERE IS NO BODY AND SOUL. If you have Body & Soul it's from Oxford mx desk and is gig not soundcheck.

Got them the wrong way round!

Black Night is 1.38 and Untitled 1 is 4.50. Which is almost 7 mins. Untitled 2 breaks into Body and Soul. So it's definitely the soundcheck!

Thanks Dan! :D

Has everyone managed to get a copy?

Not quite! Got this nice little message from the site:

"Document Unavailable

I'll get it all sooner or later!

The lengths sound right, but when I listened last night I don't recall any Body & Soul. The untitled song is guitar twiddling all the way through, I didn't notice any Body & Soul among it. Do you mean they played a few small riffs grom Body & Soul among the twiddling?

On the files uploaded - Untitled 2 has a bit of twiddling then they launch into Body and Soul.

B3. Black Night
B4. Untitled
B5. Untitled
B6. Body and Soul

Mmmmm, I think my source has mislabelled them. B3 Black Night is correct. Untitled B4. & B5. are combined as Untitled 1, and Untitled 2 is actually Body and Soul from the Oxford Gig.

Sorted! :D

I think that, one way or another, Big Si and I have seen the same mislabeling or copies thereof. I was initially surprised because I do not recall Boby and Soul being part of the soundcheck (no, I was not there), but the transition between the twiddling and the song seemed possible. The clincher for me that it was not part of the soundcheck, though, is that Body and Soul matches the Oxford recording which Dan has. :notworthy:

I think that everything is clear now, except for my spelling in the subject line.
