Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Just curious is the sisters claim to The Peoples Republic based on being founded in Leeds and/or maintaining a base there?
Of the many people that have gone through the ranks - would any one know how many can claim a full Yorkshire descent?

Gary Marx, Craig Adams and Chris Catalyst are all definitely Yorkshire lads.

Ben Gunn is a possible. AFAIK he was at 6th-form at Leeds Grammar when he joined the Sisters, so chances are he's a local too.

I always thought Craig was from Otley?

Hull is either in Yorkshire or Humberside, depending upon how the locals want it and which way the wind is blowing. Strange lot. Similar in a way to Middlesbrough and North Yorkshire - but I digress.

Christ, this old chestnut again?

Kingston-upon-Hull (Hull is the river, not the city, we don't call Newcastle 'Tyne' do we?) isn't in Humberside (1974-1996 RIP) OR East Yorkshire (Riding is a word only used by the Council and nobody else).
It's a seperate urban unitary authority under a City Council, whilst East Yorkshire is governed by the ERYC or East Riding of Yorkshire Council, from Beverley.

The two aren't connected except geographically, and for good reason. Who wants the albatross of that City of the Dead?

Historically, (i.e. prior to the 1974 boundary changes) Kingston upon Hull was part of the East Riding.

And as it happens, Chris is from Beverly, not Hull itself. ;)

All I know is that prior to Hull being in the Premier League, they wanted nowt to do with Yorkshire - then as soon as they were promoted (and Leeds were in Div 3), they were the "biggest team in Yorkshire".

Like I say, funny lot.
