So, we're all still here 'under the Von'........why?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

With coming back here recently (yeah, I know, fool to myself ) I've been thinking.

It's now been an ever increasing number of years since the last new recorded output with no sign of that changing and yet there's more activity in here still than many new or frequently releasing bands forums.

I realise many on here are of an age where we went through one side and out the other side of the releasing bell curve but even with that and the influence they undeniably had it still amazes me just how active it is.

Anybody have any musings on just why? I'm not baiting or taking the mick but just curious really. Is it age/timing, influence, nostalgia, a community service ruling....?

Because releases is not what it's all about? We already got releases...

The community surrounding the band is still strong in the real world (deny it all you like, partly because of the tribal nature of the goff thang), so it makes sense that this would be reflected online.

I come here for the people, not for the band. I sold almost everything by them, but the HL folks are priceless! :notworthy:

Sure, we're the ones that bought all that stuff from you ;D

I started coming here because of the band. Not long after I met some HL'ers in person and some of them are among my best friends now... that's a lot to get from an online forum :notworthy:

Having had a top afternoon, evening, night (and morning! :urff: ) out with you chaps and chapesses back in the mists of time I kinda knew that the community thing would be a frequent answer.

It was more that even with that acknowledged, I've still seen other forums where that was the case gradually die a death if the artist doesn't release anything for so long. The bonds are made but tend to then carry on in real life () instead.

I was just curious, that's all.

Err, i actually like the band and have an interest in it?

That's got nothing to do with whether or not they have ever released anything.

I read somewhere that the new album is going to be called "The End of the World" and will be released soon, but I can't find the source anymore.

it's the thing about being able to commune with relative 'like mindeds' out there that your not likely to meet in day to day (real?) life.
Thats the borin / default reason isn't it?

I personally 'left' the Sisters after the Aldritch/Hussey/Addams break up
(so fukin ANNOYING more than anything else was that!)
and the 1st Top o the shytes appearance!!! (wot da FUK :urff: )!!!

The 83 - 85 era WAS the Sisters to me.
Anything after that... naaah, no thanks.
Not from the right universe.

So, its the nostalgic trip thing that brings me here.

I like the atmosphere here. Not trainspotters, just a great bunch,
erm, with a spot on sense o' humour (check postings above... you guys ;D )

I think it's safe to assume that everyone came here originally because of their interest in the band. Whether that meant recorded, live or both varies. Why people keep coming back is down to how much there is here to interest them. I don't know anyone here outside of the forum so can't say it's down to friendship but there are always interesting people here with interesting things to say. I frequent a number of other band forums, primarily to keep up to date, get info etc but I post here far more than on any of the others simply because there are interesting conversations going on.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.
