F&L&A different version?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I should probably know this already but what version of First and Last and Always is this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvfjW2y1 ... re=related

Is it a demo? Cause it doesn't sound like the original LP version or 2006 CD both of which I've got. I'm only posing the question cause I prefer the intro (entirely correct use of delay on the opening guitar like the killer "Wake" version :notworthy: )

This version is from the both cd and lp first and last and always remastered 1992. In the mexican picture disc this version is included as well

in the japan version is included too

In the 2009 original album series reissued by rhino comes this version too

I don´t know why the original album has the version that you know and the other ones have the version that you ask about it......

The story goes that the original master tapes were "lost" and the remixed ("Japanese") versions were the only ones available when time came to release FALAA on CD. By the time 2006 rolled around the masters were presumably "found" again, and hence the fact that the 2006 reissues have the correct original mixes.

All right-thinking people know that the Japanese remixes are crap, of course. There's nothing correct about the intro - it's a song that didn't even exist until someone started messing around with master tapes. ;D
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I agree. I always hated the 1992 remaster, especially the title track.
Only the Americans could have built a place like this in the middle of a jungle.

Indeed.Having had the vinyl since the week it was released,I bought the cd in the early 90's and thought "What have they done!"

The other possibility being that the 2006 reissues were mastered from the vinyl...

Was there a remastered 1992 LP as this seems to indicate. I thought it was just redone in cd format. Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention! ;D
