That tempo is bothering me.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

In this case i'm talking about "walk away", a recent live version (2010). Anyway, I think all this time upon listening to recent live sissy stuff i somehow blocked it out of my mind to further distance myself from any discomfort. Now this has caught up to me. I don't like the sped up songs as they seem rushed and therefore lack some essence of the originals. Does anyone else agree? Seeing them live for the firstr time in my 20 year devotion automatically blocked out what i really heard, sped up song tempo's. Initially the spectacle and excitment of this event held all disregard for any of my negative rants. But now i see this up tempo thing as common and quite frankly i think it wrecks some of the songs. Do we think our hero :von: recognizes this or like everything else, is it just to fulfill his own needs as opposed to we the fans? Of course that's all speculation and whathaveya, but I'm sorry Andy, please slow down the tunes. Nevertheless, it's probably got something to do with time. If that's the case "time sucks!" Nuff said, i leave it to all.....
Say you're in a band for 30 years. Unless you have a repertoire like Motorhead's, I'd imagine that either you shake things up a bit occasionally or else you drive yourself insane. In the case of The Sisters, shaking things up amounts to speeding up some of the slower songs and slowing down some of the faster songs. I can't imagine anything more soul-destroying than churning out the same stuff every night (four nights a year) - apart from being referred to as the Sissies, of course
Sometimes I feel high. Sometimes I feel so unbelievably down. It's nothing to do with pleasure or pain. No it works its way up from the pit of my groin.

I think the uptempo goes with the whole ... I don't know how you call it... shaved head and military trousers thing?
I would crave for some slow stuff. 1959 has always been a favourite of mine. And some of the slow songs that you get as bonuses on the re-releases, or any of the slower stuff on Floodland. I think Eldritch does have the voice for it.
