Eldritch's interview with David Bowie - anyone have it?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I've read that Eldritch interviewed David Bowie for a magazine... does anybody have a copy of it?

Hey, thank you so much Being645!

Yeah, Yello are an acquired taste. I love them but I can understand why many people don't...

Me too. I understand that they haven't heard The rhythm divine on a speaker system able to dig deep enougth and play strong enougth without loads of distortion. Furthermore I understand that they have yet to see the I love you-video. :P

Yes the One Second album is fantastic, so many good songs! Mick Karn played the bass on The Rhythm Divine but he didn't want to be credited on the sleeve.

The Race and Oh Yeah are great songs, but I never really got interested in them beyond those.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Well if you liked those songs then check out Yello's albums Stella, One Second and Flag. There's some amazing tracks on them if you give them a chance.

By the way, I noticed you have Skinny Puppy for your avatar. Cevin Key actually wanted Yello to produce the Skinny Puppy album The Process but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) it never happened! It would have been an insane combination...

Cool, I'll check them out. :D :notworthy:

Now that would have been something else indeed. Another to add to the list of "what might have been" for The Pup, though... :(

Yeah they have been through a lot, I heard their latest album can't be released because of some legal s**t with the label... let's hope it doesn't drag on and on like it did with the Sisters.

I can't get into their new stuff, without Goettel and Rave it doesn't sound right to me.

Same here. I admire them for getting back together and continuing, but without Dwayne they really had to change the sound and it's just not to my taste anymore.

One of my favorite Yello songs is Desire:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zAMJp9roqU

I seriously think The Sisters Of Mercy should cover this song, the lyrics and music would suit Eldritch perfectly... "the sun, blowing the moon away... lights me up for one more day... the streets are naked, in the morning sun... the night lifts behind me, I run and run..."

Can't you imagine Eldritch singing it with Dr Avalanche pulsing in the background?

When I'm Dictator of the Universe,
covering and/or remixing this song

I'm not happy about this :|

... and how did Yello get mixed into this mess?
no, I didn't read the ramblings of Mr. E

still not happy :|

Thanks for the Bowie interview - most interesting
I get the impression that Eldo is not that big a fan of "Outside" - it obviously doesn't compare too favourably with any of the Sisters albums of the nineties.

I love Bowie's "Outside", it's one of my favorite albums ever. Definitely one of my desert island discs! I really love the fusion of rock, electronics and jazz on it.

I doubt Bowie is bothered by Eldritch's criticism, he's in a totally different league... and Bowie has released about 7 or 8 decent full length albums since the beginning of the 90s! And Eldritch has released how many?

Yeah, Outside is one of my favourite Bowie albums as well ... :D ...

and I found it ... *Hello Spaceboy ... ... quite necessary at the time ...

Then again, I wouldn't say Bowie were a totally different league compared to The Sisters, basically ...
He does have a different background and a different set of, say gifts and pre-conditions ...
and as unlucky as he was (with regard to RCA for example), after all he's always been
way better off than Eldritch in almost every respect ...

Anyway, nothing can break my respect for either of them and their music ...
Without them (and a few others of course), I feel my life had been a total mess ...

Also, IMHO, quality cannot be counted in numbers of releases ...
although I'm definitely glad, Bowie has been able to release a good number of albums ...

Btw, somewhere later :von: said something to the effect that he, as an interviewer, had intended
to take a different position from what he thought Bowie were used to ... well it was, errhm ... slightly different ... ...
and polite, definitely. Fair enough.

hell, that's quite sufficient gossip on my part for today ...
