I'm utterly gobsmacked
Just heard that my job is being moved 100K to the middle of nowhere. I'm in total shock. Commuting is out of the question cos public transport in this country sucks donkeys.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Sorry to hear that, mh. Isn't your company making any allowances for those employees who'll now have to travel insane distances to get to work? That seems really unfair...
I left my heart in Ballycastle...
No removal or relocation expenses. It's supposed to be voluntary, but the way it's looking is if you don't move you're gonna end up pushing paper. I like being a network admin.

That's appalling,hin.
I hope things work out somehow.
This kind of thing just illustrates how rubbish this country is sometimes
Good luck.

Middle of nowhere?
Sorry to hear it.
When the shock wears off, you may feel better.

that sucks, travelling 100 KMs to get to work would suck.
Bad news mh.
If it helps I travel 125km each way to get to work.
Bad points are early starts, 12 hour days, loss of quality time, no social life Sun-Thu, crap unreliable hiddeously expensive trains, stress, fatigue and general weariness.
Good points none.

Is there no chnce of getting a similar job that is more to you?
Me? Or mh?jenzi-benzi wrote:Is there no chnce of getting a similar job that is more to you?
If me, no. I used to do what I do locally. Then they merged the office into the Cambridge operation. Being a university town full of narrow roads and historic listed buildings it was a nightmare to get to. Only 50kms but it took two hours because of the limited access and volume of traffic. In the end I thought 'fcuk it' and found a job in London. Takes as long to get here but the train takes the strain, allegedly. When it works its wake up at 0700 and in the office at 0900 like most people. Unfortunately the days it works are few and far between.
If the question was aimed at mh, apologises. At least I've had my rant.

@JB:
Up at 0700? Good God that's luxury. I'm up at 0500 at my desk at 0730. Commute is 60 minutes via car and subway. Any later and it takes 90 minutes and theres's no parking at the car park.
Don't you nap on the train? Or take time for yourself? I do.

Nowadays I scan the paper and nap. I did have a phase when I would listen to Sisters boots on my Discman. But then there was the unfortunate incident with my school bag, a two litre bottle of water, the Discman and Birmingham 84.Black Planet wrote: Don't you nap on the train? Or take time for yourself? Only Birmingham survived.
