Official Sisters site renamed

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

How do you know what they are? You have declined (quite vocally) to see them for the past few years. :P

The "Goth" vs "Ersatz Rock God Love Machines" debate has been terminated, and its ashes scattered across an organic form to facilitate local, environmentally sustainable local produce, such as Kellog's "Start" and Body Shop Vitamin E moisturiser.

You are a Goth band if the gigs you play are frequented by people dressed like undertakers,so Lacrimosa,Rosetta Stone and The Sisters are Goth.
You are metal if they wear leather trousers and Slayer shirts,so Motorhead,Slayer and The Sisters are Metal.
Simples.

According to the Goth Etiquette Book,
Mr. Eldritch is categorized as a:
Not-A-Goth

I can't remember how they worded the definition of a Not-A-Goth.
But it was good.
And it fit him.
(and me)

Maybe someone has a copy of that laying around?

but there is a saying "don't blame god for jehova's witnesses", or something like that, eh? (please don't attack me for this political incorrectness, I'm an atheist who has some very good jehova's witnesses neighbours, so there) I think it's a good comparison to a band and the crowds who come to see them.
Besides, from what I've noticed, it varies a lot from country to country. In Sweden, for example, the people are mostly very goth, but then again they look so beautiful that it's difficult not to love them 8), whereas in Belgium goth attire is rather rare.

Starkly lit and draped in fog, blatantly minimalist in an age when ‘bigger’ was generally regarded as ‘better,’ there was little to actually look at, but a great deal to watch, three figures choked in cloaking smoke, the now omnipresent hats and ponchos conjuring images that would not be out of place in a Peckinpah movie. And that was before the band kicked into either ‘Phantom,’ with the ghosts of The Good, The Bad And The Ugly floating around its skeletal melody, or Dylan’s ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door,’ lifted straight from Peckinpah’s own Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid. Other bands have toyed with the taut, tense expectation that was lay at the soul of the Sisters experience. But none before had ever captured it with such chilling calculation.

Capco
In order for the men and women suit to distinguish and emphasize that Capco was a new-economy company, Capco also adopted it as a separate corporate identity, everyone dressed in black. The men in black.

They're Goth, Always have been, always will be unless they start releasing stuff like JLS, Boyzone or Lowlife.

Von can say what he wnats but he's still going to get more goths going to the gigs than any other type of people.

I'm a goth, they're goth in my eyes & ears and I'll still support them.
