RIP Gary Moore

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Never a fan of his music, but bloody hell. :(
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Can definitely hear Moore's influence on "Vision Thing" if Von's presence on "After the War"'s anything to go by. Seems for a lot a people that VS was too "Bon Jovi" and not enough "Mauvais Gloomy" - but I think it was the like of Moore's more introspective hard rock - by way of Neil Young - that was more of a culprit, or benefactor, depending on which way you see it. For me, definitely the latter.

Rock In Peace, Gary.

Wikipedias state: "Andrew Eldritch - backing vocals on "After the War", "Speak for Yourself" and "Blood of Emeralds"

But I've found no anecdote as to "why" Eldritch is on this Gary Moore album. Until facts arrive I look at the titles as being anachronistically exploted to his points of view; "after the war" - life after the breakup of the old sisters lineup, "Speak For Yourself" - a message to guitar players - "Blood Of Emeralds" - Beats me....alluding to aviator shades maybe

Heard the news on radio 2 at work this morning, felt quite sad.Still got some of his 80's hard rock stuff on vinyl, and he played the first Monsters of Rock at Donington that I attended, back in 1984.

Sad news indeed. Maybe Von will opt to incorporate "Blood of Emeralds" into one of the set-lists as a tribute cover?
