Worst Sisters songs.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Oh yes, completely agree. Only slight difference would be Black Planet, but everything else are eternal songs.

But it's alright. Beethoven, Mozart, and even the Russian composers, have a few pieces i find incomprehensible and boring.

I love Adrenochrome, to the point I wanna marry and have babies with that track - and this is coming from someone with a growing weariness about this whole "people should breed the crap right out of this planet" business...

And what's with all the Doc Jeep-bashing? It was that very song that catapulted me into having to get everything the Sisters have ever done (and by everything, I need you all to understand the full, unexpurgated definition of my meaning). Yeah, it drones on, but what a drone...

... Which brings me to...

Damage Done / Watch / Home of the Hitmen.

Probably the tracks Edritch is most embarrassed of, but I have opened a refuge for these abused debutantes, victims all of domestic violence of the most pernicious kind - emotional cruelty.

Like Carrie's arm bursting out of the grave to scare the living s**t out of Piper Laurie, these tracks aren't going away - more likely they're destined to gang together and loiter on the sodium-sodden streetcorners of our dreams like some aural Cerberus... waiting for us to skip by as we idly hum to ourselves Flood 1 or some such nonsense... and then... Pow!

On the other hand, Damage Done is a nice trashy pop tune. :D

Not sure about Watch as it was played live quite some times in the early days.

Kiss The Carpet (only it's mother could love it)
Temple of Love with the wailing hag on it.... (sorry)

I know this goes against popular opinion but The Damage Done has grown on me over the years

Wrong wrong wrong. The Reptile House is as close to perfection as anything The Sisters have ever created.

If Champion Love Shoes was attributed to The Sisters, you'd love that too.

Worst?
Home of the hitmen
Will I Dream
Temple of Love (new version...what a waste)
1959.

On the other hand...these aren't necessarily the worst, I just don't like them or find myself skipping them:
This Corrosion (I know this is a fan fave, but I can't be arsed with it)
Detonation Boulevard
More (I think a pattern is emerging...I don't like Steinman)

Favorites would be:
SKOS
Marian
Lights
Train
Driven Like The Snow
We Are The Same Suzanne
Ribbons
Body Electric.

Of course there is an element of opinion involved here and I am prepared to be wrong.... but in this case I am not. Burn I will give you, Valentine of course, Light Yes and Fix is clear cut. For the life of me I have never got on with Kiss The Carpet. I may even have to drag out the vinyl and listen again (not they I need to having heard the bugger thousands of times).

I believe perfection to have been achieved with the reworking of Body Electric.

only songs i can't even hear those days and i have many years to hear and don't feel the need to hear again are the songs in their very first single.

it was something like a kid writing his first program, that made it as exercise to see how to do it and experiment in some things and see what to avoid and what works and ...
