didn't the gigography on the tsom site used to say "alcuin college" not "vanbrugh college" from 16/02/1981?
i was sure the 20th anniversary gig was in the same uni but not the same college....
ta.

http://gps.tsom.org/history.html says alcuin still as it's not been updated in recent years..
i feel like a right nerd now for asking...*

It was a Polytechnic the last time I was there! Ah the years...

as for it saying vanbrugh, this is surely incorrect if they didn't play the same venue 20 years later as the original venue was too small?

i asked on dominion (would've done to start with only it's so quiet on there) and there was told alcuin was indeed correct.

Not that much to add really, but I was at York Uni in 1991 and close to both the Goth Hippy Groovers and Rock Soc that tried to get the anniversary gig (I was told it was the Uni Provost that refused permission for this) organised. At this time I recall that is was Vanbrugh College that was talked about as being the place of the first ever sisters gig.
However the only decent sized gig I went to at the Uni was held in Alcuin and was a goth band, wish for the life of me I could recall who they were....
But then that was 20 years ago and the grey cells fade...
To add a real curve ball to this, on a recent trip to the University to re-live old memories it seemed that several University buildings (due to its rapid exapnsion over the past few years) have been moved name wise from one college to another and Alcuin is adjacent to Vanbrugh.

the goth hippy groovers i knew told me it was Alcuin, up on the hill, by the water tower. at length. incessantly. repeatedly.Gethz wrote:Not that much to add really, but I was at York Uni in 1991 and close to both the Goth Hippy Groovers and Rock Soc that tried to get the anniversary gig (I was told it was the Uni Provost that refused permission for this) organised. and i was told Vanbrugh was used in 2001 due to Alcuin being under refurbishment.
