Leeds first-time visitor

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Don't forget that a lot of Leeds chip-shops fry their food in lard :urff:

Including Crown Fisheries IIRC.

yeah, i know they always used to when i lived there (and still ate that crap )

dont think there's many "traditional chippys" that use veg oil tbh. you usually have to go to a "chinese chip shop" to avoid the lard :|

you can always tell a chippy that uses lard from about 500 yards away as the air is sticky, and thick with goop :urff:

all the staff working there always have spotty foreheads

Yeah, there's a lardy chippy at the bottom of our road. Fortunately, if the wind is in that direction, the smell gets overpowered by the smell from the council refuse centre just off Kirkstall Road.

Thank you Herr Quiff, the spotty forehead picture was just what I needed :urff:

By the way - so where do I find this intriguing Leeds City Market? When I google it, many many markets pop up.

I miss the little record shop behind the station where you could buy Sisters bootlegs and Drug Free America shirts...Glad there are still some decent chippys though. Hopefully the Leeds City Gallery is still rather groovy.
