Methamphetamine logic

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

True, even if it's a 'thank f@*k that's not me'-kinda laugh.. I suppose appealing to vanity can be as effective as any other tactic, even though some of the 'before' shots are howlers too!

Let me see if I can find the one where its Celebrities + Hollywood + Hard Drugs. That one we're defiantly allowed to laugh at.

Another anti-prohibition argument. ;)

Banning recreational drugs means that drugs which are hard to manufacture but effectively harmless (E for example) are harder to get hold of than ones that are more harmful but easier to make (like meth).
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

I will admit to knowing f**k all about recreational drugs, apart from that space cake makes me feel happy, I like vodka and anyone I'm in the company with who does partake must *preferably* know when to stop.

(I do know that if you make meth, its not a good idea to try to take the stuff still cooking. A studentdoctor forum taught me that, along with a whole boatload of horrors to last a lifetime.)

Seconded. In addition, we all know these before-after pictures and the fraud behind. Usually, they only want to make you feel bad, and create a feeling/need with you, make you do something in order to be a lovable or respectable person. The solution: You buy what they offer ... phh ...

Still, overdoing things, not only drugs, always leads to the neglect of other things ... even to destruction, such as the death of starving millions in other coutries or the fact that a third of the population in some African countries suffer from HIV ... or that the majority of human beings on this planet do not have a chance to develop who they are, not even in the rich countries.

All symptoms of the neglect of what being human actually means compared to what whatever "owners" want them to be for their own benefit or their own imagination. Often enough even believing it were for the best.
We know it all, all of us, since we all have been children and there is no childhood without damage, because everybody is in the situation of being ruled over and forced into what they don't want and what they can't do with. And of course, everybody wants to get rid of that rule, since it is painful and destroys maybe a whole life right at the beginning. That's the sado-masochist nature of childhood.
And for me, being/becoming an adult being means to overcome it, to see the structures that led to it, to take what it has done, to take what I got left, to step out of these automatics and decide for myself. There is a brake, there are gears ... we can even make use of the whole machine ... despite all the destruction. Though, not everybody is lucky enough to have been left with this minimum of a self. This is a fact we should be aware of. And in addition, it is possible to break every personality, without exception. Just as easy as to build one, basically. It's quite a joke after all. But not in this world, where we can't even afford to give our love where we feel the need to do so and where it were urgently needed, perhaps, where we even might have the means, where we are forced to watch the drowning from the distance, unable to unheed, maybe, but often enough it is even worse ... drugs, pah ... before and after ... what after? It's always a way to get anywhere and another way to get anywhere else and a choice (not all that much) what to go for and where.
We can only give ourselves and others a try. And another.

EDIT: * ... I'm such an idiot ... sometimes ... ...

I'm confused.

I *think* the general idea was : Meth is f**king bad for you. Don't do it.

at the beginning it was but then start a derail on '(pros and) cons of prohibition'. i know, it's probably my fault, but we really talked about this at least few times before. as a matter of fact the same arguments were used.

How much of the damage to these people is the actual drug, and how much the lifestyle that tends to go along with it? Homelesness, abusive relationships, lack of hygiene, general poverty etc? :|

I like your avatar, and was watching your sig video just the other day.

I think a lot of it is purely down to the drug, if you look at the big sheets of the before/after images that are around the internet they all seem to go along the same sort of lines with physical appearance. I guess you can't be a cultured meth user, like you can with something like cocaine (Maintaining a good job, respectability, relationship etc while chucking a load of stuff up your nose.)

One of the big things I noticed with the meth users is that they tend to lose a lot of their teeth. That's why their faces look so f*cked up. I don't know whether that's a direct result of the drug itself, or like DeWinter says, of the surrounding lifestyle.

Yeah, anyway, point taken about the derail Bartek. I would definitely not like anyone I cared about to get mixed up with meth. It's a hell of a drug.

An ex of mine who had used quite a lot in the past had really staggeringly horrific teeth - last I heard he'd had the whole lot pulled and I assume dentures at the age of 30. Got another friend in their late 20s whose having a whole ton of dental work done to correct drug use damage. Guess some of the stuff you can stick in your mouth can cause some damage, aside from the teeth grinding I've heard about.

I wa astonished upon re-watching the first season of "The Young Ones" to discover it actually wasn't that funny! Season two was hilarious apart from one problem: Alexei Sayle. Stinks up every scene he's in..

I notice the whole sunken cheeks look is big with heroin addicts too. You can spot the ones where I live a mile away. One explanation for it I heard was that the drug itself and the often accompanying bad lifestyle leeches vitamins and minerals out of your body, so teeth are amongt the first things to go.

Incidentally wasn't Andy E fond of the odd bit of meth abuse in his time? I always assumed that's why he was always so pasty and sunken-cheeked looking. He looks a lot better now, admittedly.
