I love The Sisters Of Mercy!

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

If they didn't exist I'd have to start a band. I have no musical talent. I started a magazine instead. You don't need talent to do this. ;D

The music and lyrics are both evocative, and Mr. Eldritch may be the ultimate rock star.

Not 'arf - Eldritch is to music what the Simpsons is to cartoons, Alan Moore is to comics, and sex is to being alive.

Since 14.04.1989 to be exact. Why? Because of that beautiful deep voice, lyrics & tunes, screams & whispers.

Since it's resurrected and I'm new ...

I got into The Sisters at school around 1986. Anyone from Batley Grammar around that period? Danny? Norman? Dan? I was too late for Wake, but saw them at Wembley in 1990. Crap!

It took a while for 'Vision Thing' to float my boat, but 'Floodland' and 'FALAA' did the trick. Collecting singles and bootlegs, I became a rabid Sister fan. Today, 'Vision Thing' is a lot more interesting to me, now I'm 40 ish  and not some teenage goff. Growing up in/around Leeds/Bradford in the mid-1980s you couldn't really be anything other, could you?

What I like about The Sisters is the lyrical turn Von pulls in almost every song.

I am certain that's what I like about it - even 'Under the Gun' has a real return to the Floodland era, big vocals, big music and an undertow of Mr E pulling his growling sneer :von:

I've seen them a few times since 1990 at smaller venues and I just continue to love whatever they do. The Adam Pearson period was good - innovation, musically and a good output. Christo/Catalyst just rock, tho' ... and that's what The Sisters are really about. I think The Sisters today is possibly the best line-up to date. We just need Lemmy on't bass and we will have THE Sisters of Mercy

Love it ... always did ... always will!
