I just hope everything is OK with the Japanese girl who did most of the XXX gigs. (I don't think she's on HL.) She went home after the Berlin gig. :?

Terrible news!
I don't think the Japanese are the type to postpone "just" because of unexpected circumstances. They'll probably have everything fixed and running in a month. But nevertheless, it's sad...

Clare Harris, a friend of mine and Blast's (Si, Andrew S and Claire may remember her too from Blast's 50'th birthday), lives and works in Tokyo. I mailed her to see if she's ok immediately after I found out what had happened and was very happy to get a mail back telling me she's fine, albeit in a bit of a shock. She was on the underground to downtown Tokyo when it happened, but luckily not far from where she lives. And her building is quake proof, so she should sleep safely now. Nevertheless, her emergency bag is packed just in case of a heavy aftershock.

It seems the tsunami made the most victims. One big worry is the nuclear complex of Fukushima, as the cooling for three reactors stopped working. The last thing the Japanese need now, is another nuclear disaster on top of this tragedy...

Indeed it sounds scary on the news! Well I hope I'll get an "I'm ok" reply soon.

I have a handful of friends in Japan, most in Tokyo as well, yet some further up north. So far so good with all of them. They are confirming it was very frightening but mostly the inland areas are fine, besides the transportation issues, the reactor issues and the burning refinery.

The coastal farm areas in the north-east are of course obliterated and they have been warned to stay inland.

My prayers go out to the Japanese. :(

WWII: bad karma
I'm drunk, yes.
Since I was 14 years old
(also when my dad died at the age of 40)
I have felt a kind of guilt, for Hiroshima
and Nagasaki.'

I will finally live there soon.

We are eagerly awaiting the SISTERS in Japan, later this year.

Oh well, this is not the Fuji Rock thread, so I guess it's ok to write something.

The Tokyo area and the populous areas to the south aren't that badly affected, thanks to the Boso peninsula east of Tokyo. My friends there told me it shook a lot but they haven't heard of any injuries in their area.

Sadly on the other hand, the people running Fukushima plant have been a bit greedy and have been running an outdated, non-earthquake resistant nuclear power plant for years which this morning seems to be breaking down completely.

So let's hope for Fuji Rock, Japan and the whole world that the wind continues blowing to the east, towards the Pacific ocean :|
