organ intro - royal albert hall 1985

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

is it possible to eventually clear up what was played as an organ-intro at the royal albert hall in 85?

this is the snippet from jenny which leads directly into fla:

the gigleavlet mentions malcom rudland performing pieces by messian (should read messiaen ?) and lynryd skynryd.

anyone still can remember?

thx!

It's probably not very hard to find out which Messiaen pieces Rudland has recorded.

Plus personally i'd start the elimination from his most famous works, such as L'Ascension - which, curiously enough, is part of Rudland's repertoire. (No, i'm not sure that's it - but i think it's at least as likely a candidate as any ;) )

i do understand that the organ was played live by rudland, is it like this? (the albert hall is famous for its organ, so it would be a pity of from tape)

i also would rate the piece in discussion more as one by lynryd skynryd than by messiaen.

so i hope we find out what piece it was

Definitely the mighty Free Bird.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
