No idea about the cheapest,but a quick look on google earth shows a novotel almost across the road from the venue,so I'll be stopping there ;D

Probably the Euro Hostel on the corner of Clyde Street and Jamaica Street. Kind of a cross between a hostel and a hotel as most of the rooms are single. Basic but cheap and adequate for a night or two.

Eurohostel is quite a trek from the ABC, especially as there are so many hotels and guest houses near within spitting distance (Charing Cross or Garnethill areas). Check out laterooms.com for cheap ones on Renfrew Street, such as McLays, Alba Lodge, Hampton Court, Charing Cross Guest House etc. For something nicer but still quite cheap and nearby, there's the Newton Hotel or Adelaides on Bath Street. Also lots of chain hotels in the area - Ibis, Novotel, Premier Inn, Best Western, Travelodge and Citizen M.
Cheapest options (besides my floor, which has very limited capacity) there are a couple of hostels on Berkeley Street, 5 or 10 minutes walk from the ABC.
Blue Sky Hostel
Globetrotters Hostel (just across from Blue Sky but no website in evidence)
Or slightly further away, Glasgow Youth Hostel

For sheer luxury and splendour reminiscent of the Overlook Hotel from The Shining, the Grand Central Hotel is right inside Central Station and has double or twin rooms for £89 inc full buffet breakfast. Besides the luxurious surroundings and fancy champagne bar, there's the added bonus of some of its rooms overlooking the station concourse :) Get in there!

Euro Hostel is a good place to crash.

Nice 'n' Sleazy is a very good place to drink (£2 White Russians if you fancy that sort of thing) and is about 5 minutes' walk from the ABC.


As for the gig.. well, I'll need to be flyering it for other, more fun gigs, but I may pop inside just to say I've seen 'em. It IS only 15 minutes' walk from my flat, I guess... ;)

Booked my train tickets this morning,initially it was going to be 229 pounds for me and the girlfriend :eek: :!:
After playing around with the travel times,and picking specific trains I got it down to fifty quid each,that's Nottingham to Glasgow,which was a lot more reasonable!

I started planning today and found return train tickets from Manchester for £30 each

Also looking at booking the cheap (& cheerless) Ibis on west regent street.

As is the Charing Cross one, for those preferring somethig closer to the venue. The George Square one would be perfect for anyone arriving at Queeen Street but costs a tenner more.
