1320 is sitting on my record deck, must get it serviced...
F&L&A is easily my most owned LP
Cassette
LP - Original
LP - Japanese import
LP - Gatefold Sleeve
CD - Original 1988
CD - Remastered in 1992
CD - Remastered & Expanded
LP - Mobile fidelity
I guess I should look out for the picture disc and get a full set... unless there are more?

You do realise though, that your F&L&A collection borders on being obsessive compulsive

Good question, I'm pretty sure the Japanese mixes are the same as the original CD (Please correct if I'm mistaken)Being645 wrote:And do you prefer any of these?
But ultimately, sad as this is, I like the most recent release, just great to be able to extend the listening pleasure

As far as I know, that's how it is. But I'm surely not an expert. I've always preferred my original 1985 vinyl ...bananacamel wrote:Good question, I'm pretty sure the Japanese mixes are the same as the original CD (Please correct if I'm mistaken)Being645 wrote:And do you prefer any of these?
the Japan mixes (as on that Sisters Albums CD Compilation from last year), uhm ... no, not what I've been used to ... ...
Though now, this mofi vinyl, Japanese mixes or not, it sounds wonderful to me ... ...
If that should be based on the same source, they've really done a good job.

It sounds a bit better than the CD version, so I *hope* they've used a master, but seeing as it was licensed to Mofi by Elektra (see back of record) I reckon it uses the Japanese mixes. This is further confirmed when listening to the title track and A Rock And A Hard Place, both utilise the Japanese mixes.
See my comparison here: (Original -> Remaster -> Mofi) - CLICK
N.B. Recorded at 96kbps so the sound quality is a bit naff, just there to give you an idea of the differences.

wow.. I don't understand the lack of definition in FLAA while the other track on the same lp has so much definition...robertzombie wrote:It sounds a bit better than the CD version, so I *hope* they've used a master, but seeing as it was licensed to Mofi by Elektra (see back of record) I reckon it uses the Japanese mixes. Quick count of First & Last & Always vinyl is at 36 copies without any of those colour vinyl reissues or the BPI Presentation award.Rise891 wrote:Oh there is always more! Just vinyl

"i'm talking about god, devil, hell, do you understand, finally?"
I don't think so since the mofi release sounds more accurate compared to the cd version plus I got those images from the master reels mofi used for the transfer - posted these some month ago in this topic IIRC or just look here:lachert wrote:is it possible that it was just transfered from cd? no?
sorry for my ignorance.

hello there,
Got my copy number 1000!!!
The sound is to me, absolutely amazing. At some moments, i felt i was hearing a new version, as some tracks became audible in this MoFi release. The original mix had this very weird bass frequency which drowned the wole mix (to me).
This version is not the japanese, but more like the original FALAA (apart from title track). I'm thinking of the start of "a rock and a hard place" which is so peculiar on the jap version. The Mofi one is the "traditional" one.
As for the title track, sounds kinda weird indeed as the job sounds less obvious. Maybe the master tapes got damaged and prevented a restauration....

Im pretty sure the version of Hard Place on this is the Japanese one. See my comparison post earlier.
