I think 150kb is quite a lot for web purposes. You can use freeware tools like "irfanview" to resize the resolution of very large images or keep the resolution if it's OK but save them as jpeg with a bit more compression to reduce the file size.

I have so far used GIMP for resizing some files :)

GIMP should do the job as well (and much more of course) - irfanview was just the first of the "most easy-to-handle tools" wich came up in my mind  I like it because of the possibility to run batch conversion tasks and basic image correcting stuff.

Oh yeah you can script the GIMP with Python can't you. I just wish I could get over Photoshop.

I'm not really in to complex image creations/edits (I prefer moving images^^) that's why for 90% of my image-related tasks (resizing, converting, cropping, rotating, adjust. brightness & contrast % colors....) Irfanview is doing the job and for the remaining 10% I'm working with Paint.net wich is kind of a "Photoshop light". I tried GIMP years ago but the handling seemed to be very "unusual" for somebody who only worked with other tools before but I sure know that GIMP is a damn fine and powerful tool - if you can handle it

But hey - even with basic windows paint you can do crazy things:

nope, no limit on space so in theory at least you can do whatever you want :)

but as has been pointed out, 150kb should be a decent enough size for a jpg sleeve scan...

this one for example is 61k

http://sisterswiki.org/Image:The_incred ... -front.jpg

although happy to increase that limit slightly if there's a need :?:

Yeah some of them have been uploaded without any editing, but most of the CD covers I have are strangely enough over 150KB but I have no problem with resizing them :) So no real need to extend the upload limit. I will however break it if I think there is a reason for it - like text that can't be read if resized. I hope that will be OK?

Thanks to Rise891, some pictures of the concerning marquees have been added to the Gigography ... :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: ...

We think it looks great ... ;D ...

So if anybody should have further such pics, don't hesitate to add them to the Wiki
... or send them to me, so that I can arrange for that ...

Hell, I'm not exactly content with the Current Events page.

I'd like to move the first part of it under a headline like Recent Events to the Main Page ... ...

preferrably between A Brief Overview and Further Information

Any objections, suggestions ... :?:

not convinced about the multicoloured links though - makes it very difficult to actually read :urff:

... ... understandable ... changed it on the Main Page now ... looks far more relaxed ... :D ...

On the Current Events page, font sizes help make things easier to read ... still a bit too coloured, maybe

... but all in black and blue does not seem desirable to me, either ... ...

Someone deleted plenty bootlegs from the list in the Wiki ...

I wonder, whether this is ok? I don't think so, acutally ... but ...

http://sisterswiki.org/index.php?title= ... ldid=10576

So, I have decided to return the page to it's former state ...
if there should by any objections, this oughta be discussed ...
either here or in the discussion pages of the Wiki.

i've upgraded the sisters wiki to the latest version of mediawiki: v1.16.5

http://www.sisterswiki.org/Special:Version

it was a pretty simple upgrade but the previous version was from 2006, so there may well be quite a few changes :D

let me know if there's any bugs or quirks :)

sounds good ... :D ..

but the Community Portal Link on the Main Page doesn't work ... found a functioning link to it in the Statistics file ... here

and - much worse - Current Events can only be reached along the link from within the text on the Main Page

under this link in Recent Events, not from the link in the side bar ...   ...

Anyway, the User List is very clearly arranged now ... ...

You can't delete users unfortunately. Tats a restriction of mediawiki.

However, what you can do is install an extension that allows you to rename users, so we could change all the spammy names to something neutral...

Or there's one that seems to let you merge users, so you could merge them all into 1, then rename that user to "zzz" or something.

That might tidy up the user list 8)

how's that now?

Image

have tweaked the sidebar nav and removed all the system links to daft bits of the wiki that no one actually needs, replacing it with proper navigation to the sisters info :D

oh yeah, and i changed the wiki theme to something slightly more contemporary :D
