Hello.....

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Hi Heartland.

New to the forum, but been a Sisters fan since 1984. First saw them on the Black October tour in Guildford that year, and that was enough for me. Amassed quite a collection of vinyl etc. since then which is my main reason for posting. I never thought I could part with my collection but the way things are I don't have a choice. Anyway I have begun to list stuff on ebay, as of tonight there is the original 7"'s of Damage Done and Body Electric/Adrenochrome. To follow - in no particular order I have things like Reptile House EP with Lyric Sheet, Brothers and Sisters LP(150 copies made) bootleg, Through the Years 3LP box set (multicoloured vinyl) bootleg, Disguised In Black LP bootleg (one of my favourites as its a sh*thot recording). Anyhow its about 20 or so album and single rarities. I'll try and get them all on during this week.

I think that was a perfectly reasonable first post but I'll leave it up to the Boss/Mods.
I'd love to nab some of your goodies but I'm done with all that bollocks.
Anyway, settle in, tell us some tales...

One is tempted by the "Monty, you terrible c*nt" line from Withnail and I but you don't seem particularly c*nty ;D

Appreciate the welcome, I do have t shirts - I will be adding them to ebay in due course.
As for a tale...I remember getting a letter from the Sisters information service back in 1991. It was a Saturday afternoon and I'd just got in from work. The letter was to announce the 2 anniversry gigs at the Leeds Poly/Uni in February on a Sat/Sun. Well up for that - now just the matter of getting the tickets.... Only available from Jumbo records in Leeds. Bastard.
Rang Jumbo - can I put on my Dad's credit card as I'm 200 odd miles away. Jumbo say no - but you can drive up here and get them in person. Double Bastard.
Too late to get to Jumbo that day, not open Sunday - I knew demand would be high. I know - skip work Monday and drive to Leeds - they'll understand!
I rang them from the M25/M1 services at 8am Monday and said I wouldn't be in as I was driving upto Leeds and would explain tomorrow. Drove like a man possessed and got to Jumbo for mid morning. Hello 2 pairs of tickets for both nights please...Erm its 1 pair only per per letter I am afraid.
I've just driven 200 odd effin miles to come here and you never said that on the phone so sort it out! The manager came over and said...let him have the tickets. Yay!!

What a weekend that was - met some great people, had a cracking roast dinner in the Fenton on the Sunday. We kipped in the car both nights - it was well cold, there was snow on the ground but fuelled by lager and quality perfomances by the Sisters (kicking off with Alice - mental) good times.
Work were strangely understanding - I showed them the letter and explained it could only be in person and they were cool. Very odd. Didn't expect that.

Blimey. That's a tale and a half.

I don't think I've told my tale of the 10th anniversary gig on here...

I never bothered joining the information service, so I had to get my ticket to the 10th anniversary gig (the Uni one, I didn't go to the one at the Poly) on the night. I got it off some guy who had a spare. His mate (or possibly girlfriend) hadn't shown up. IIRC the bastard charged me a fiver over face value, but I couldn't knock him down any further.

If that was anyone on here, I didn't mean the "bastard" bit ;)

Thanks one and all for the welcome. As I'm more than quite a bit attached to my collection I've just bought a USB Ion Turntable so I can stick them on the PC and stream them through my Xbox. Just done the Floorshow Demo Ep with Teachers merging into Adrenochrome. Cracking results indeed. haven't listened to any vinyl for many moons - it blew me away how good it came out. I may be losing the records but more than happy!!
The only downer is its going to take a while!
At least I can listen to them as I'm doing it.

Hihi ... while you're transferring the sound, you could - maybe - also take a pretty hi-res scan
of the covers - front, back and possible inlay ... ... which we will then integrate into the Sisters Wiki ... ;D ...

like here, for example, in case you've got the orange version ...

Ok I'll see what I can do. I can scan them no problem, the 7"'s anyway. The LP's etc I'll take piccies. What then - email them? Let me know what the plan is.

Cheers
