best female vocalist

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Danielle Dax opened for The Sisters on their '91 tour (or at least, for the Boston gig); I don't remember her *or* anything she sang... :|

Hasta be Siouxsie from the list, but all-time all-genre goes to Hope Sandoval.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I have to stick with Toni H for her breathy intro, then full on performance in Horrorhead offa Doppleganger.
They were a killer live band and I am happy to say I saw them on the Cuckoo tour.

anne marie is a great singer. never saw her play with skeletals, but from what i've heard on record she was great with them.
IMO, siouxsie's voice isn't the best. she's an icon, and i love the banshees, but i really don't consider her a great vocalist.

don't know, maybe her voice really isn't the best but her way of singing is marvellous :notworthy:
you know - there are several goth bands with (male) singers who's voice is very good (maybe better than Andrew has) but the way of singing is terrible

oh and Hope Sandoval...

...and Victoria De Los Angeles (an awesome 'El Amor Brujo')

Sorry, but all those on the poll are shiit. No offence.

(Actually Rose and Cleo sound ok in the March Violets but would be hopeless warbling on their own)

SHAME ON YOU!

IZZY.
agreed! i saw the gathering a couple of years ago and she was fantastic. absolutely note perfect for the whole concert. i would probably vote for siouxsie(though i should really vote for cleo or rosie from :notworthy: the violets :notworthy: ), but i saw a recent live banshees video from their reform gig at shepherd's bush empire and her vocals weren't that hot, dare i say she was a bit flat quite alot! sorry siouxsie!

Can't choose between Gitane Demone (though i don't particularly like her own stuff, but in early Christian Death she's great) and Rose McDowell (i don't like her own band either but she's great in Current 93 and NON).

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Julieanne Regan. Mmmmmmmm.

Went to see AAE last night and she has not lost anything, she's still hitting all the right notes and is still oh so fit.
