I know my opinion is only my opinion but what a load of amateurish, retro waste of time. I was expecting a lot more than what's on offer froma band that had great promise

Sure you don't mean the Sisters?moses wrote:I know my opinion is only my opinion but what a load of amateurish, retro waste of time. I was expecting a lot more than what's on offer froma band that had great promise
In all fairness, that's (IMHO) the weakest song on the EP, compared to, say, A Little Punk Thing. The Violets are an entirely self-produced and fan-funded outfit now, so of course it'll not sound like This Corrosion.
Go see them live. The promise is still there, and in bucketloads.

I've seen them live and they were good. I'm just disappointed with the new recordings - Dandelion King, Road of Bones AND A Little Punk Thing all seem to be very under-worked/produced, almost like demos. I wasn't expecting them to sound like 'This Corrosion' but I was expecting at least something in the region of 'Snake Dance'.Dark wrote:Sure you don't mean the Sisters?moses wrote:I know my opinion is only my opinion but what a load of amateurish, retro waste of time. Road Of Bones is my favourite track on the EP, I love the old school Violets drum/bass interaction and subtle but infection melody. Lyrics are Simon at his best as well I feel.
Little Punk Things comes off weakest to my ears, doesn't sound rough enough for what it's trying to be in my opinion.

See, totally subjective
Actually, "London's Drowning" may slightly beat "A Little Punk Thing". Not sure. Either way, they're good to play at clubnights where nobody's quite sure what they're dancing to!

Put Body Electric (original) on.
How's that sounding?
Not too polished eh?
Don't even start me on Damage Done.
This is a rebirth under their own & contributors' steam.
The EP was put out as I recall, as they hadn't quite finished the album yet.
At least we know they're still giving us choons. & good ones too.
Just MY opinion

So I just played the original Body Electric and have to say it sounds excellent. Of course making and releasing a record in those days cost money where as today it costs almost nothing and so no excuses for poor quality or unfinised recording.Pista wrote:Put Body Electric (original) on.
