THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. If I'm going to try and introduce people to the Sisters, it would be Temple Of Love 92 and Dominion. Settle them in slowly...

On the Wire and Ribbons (live, from the When You Don't See Me single). One very small and quiet, one very big and loud, both very definitely could only have been recorded by the Sisters.

My faves are Kiss the Carpet (for old-school gloominess) and Emma (for beautiful, poetic Von at his most passionate).

In fact, the lyrics to EMMA are probably my fave Sisters lyrics - wonder why they never recorded it properly? (I think a live version appeared as a biside at some point).

Hi Shuck! :D

Emma (written by Hot Chocolate) was recorded for the John Peel Session in 1984. :von: 's vocals on the B-side to Dominion, were recorded live at the Electric Ballroom (no audience but complete with Lights and Smoke) but the music was recorded properly.

Floorshow from the old stuff and Flood II from the... not-so-old stuff.

But Emma seems to be a good "hook" to get people into the Sisters; twice I've taped a CD for someone and in the 15-20 minutes left on the C-90 put Emma. Both times I've had "Wow that song is **** fantastic, have you got anything else by them?" :twisted:

Bah! Enough of this oldschool rubbish - yes, the songs are good, but for songs representative of who the Sisters are today (or might be, if they'd release anything), I'd have to say...
