Slightly depressed.... (CBPOB)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

yes and i've let you all know on FB. our Zeno is okay... a creepy experience for him and Koen and Koen...and another friend. but they are okay. from the festival went home as the festival was cancelled. so for our HL friends they are okay. i'm sure you'll be hearing from them shortly after getting over the shock of it all.

How can you? But obviously you can and you will surely know what for. So congrats. I also find your behaviour hysterical and disgusting.

Ah, and thanks for the info. I had in fact worried as I had noticed he was off to Pukkelpop looking forward to it with pleasure.

Life and death ... ... you may talk like this to you kids ... ...

Anyway, what happened there at Pukkelpop is such sad news ...
I really don't feel like bothering with your personal resentments towards me right now.

Already the third time this year that stages crash at festivals and people come to death ... :( ... that's just not normal ...

Yes, we're safe... it was a storm like I haven't seen one before.
We were riding our bikes to the festivalsite when the sky turned pitchblack and it started to rain. We decided to seek shelter in a kebab place and while we're there have something to eat.

Then the storm raelly kicked off... it was short, but extremely heavy and then I got Z's text (they were already on the festival) that one of the tents had been blown away...

Then came chaos. Network problems so very hard to reach anybody on the mobilephone.

The way I see it there was a very tight security plan and the minute the storm calmed down, the fire dept, police, medical workers came into action.

The festival was over of course, we headed back home, found Zeno & Lex on the way home and then sat here following the news on tv & radio.

What a warzone... Much respect for the organisation, because it could have been so much worse.

Wow, good to hear our fellow HL-ers are okay. But 5 deaths is 5 too many. I don't hope the number increases ...

Must have been a shocking experience ...

Thanks for your concern all, Koen's pretty much summed it all up but it was dead frightening, I can tell you.

I wasn't in the tent that came down at the time of its collapsing (though it was my favourite venue on the festival) but in a much bigger one (think Sonisphere Sisters tent size/style - luckily with proper exits all round the back though). When that started to squeak, squeal and move about I knew I had to get out. Only managed to get out after the worst part of the storm had passed but still I've seen some major hail stones and was soaked through and through to the bone. Not a pretty experience, and you only realise the scale of it when you notice the things that have come down... Mayhem's the only word I can think of. I urge you all to think about what you would do in such a situation if ever going to a festival, because when it happens, you won't have the time to think and you'll want to do five things at the same time.
James Blast wrote:never get out the boat... too godamned right!
By all means do get out! It's the staying inside that would've killed you here, contrary to one's natural reaction.
paul wrote:But 5 deaths is 5 too many.
Even though every single one is one too many, we can thank the organisation a great deal for being so extremely well-organised. Amazing how they managed to kept the crowd under control, even though parts of the festival site were blown away, water was up to half a metre up where it'd been utterly dry just minutes before and people aching to get in touch with each other. Kudos, kudos, kudos. At pretty much any other festival I've ever been to, this would've lead to a much, much higher death toll. Nobody can foresee something like this to happen.

Pukkelpop has been cancelled entirely now...

Look at the progression on the camping... it's all laughter in the beginning...

The organisation can not be blamed for this.

Remember this was at 6 in the afternoon, what should've been bright day light. (and that was what it had been all day long - too hot to breathe)

Sometimes hearing records alone isn't enough, one has to experience. I'd hate to lock me in for the rest of my life. On top of that, most accidents happen at home anyway, so we better all get out asap!

Totally shocking. Just ordinary folk like us going to chillax at a festival.
Reminds me of the worst day of my life, 15th April 1989, when along with fifty thousand others I went to a football match...but ninety-six people never made it home.
Can't stop thinking about the family and friends of the unfortunate five. RIP.
