The Sisters Vs Lloyd Cole and The Commotions

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Blair Cowan's comments on the recording of 'Charlotte Street' from the recently re-issued Rattlesnakes anniversary type thing:

"What I remember about this is where and when we mixed it. The album was recorded in Shoreditch in East London and mixed in a residential studio in a small village near Reading. The Sisters of Mercy were in the same studio and on a scorching summer afternoon we played them at tennis. We were in shorts, t-shirts and trainers and they wore Cuban heels, black drain pipes, black polo necks, black everything.
They beat us."
I am a Leeds United fan because I was very naughty in a previous life.

I'm sorry, but I cannot imagine Von playing tennis is drainpipes and cuban heels. I'm really trying, but I can't. Even when he fenced I think he had the good sense to wear white. Cool anecdote!

That was the first thing that came to my mind, actually.

...they've bleached what's left of their hair, drink like water buffaloes, are questionable drummers and notorious pricks. And short. So they've got more in common than you'd think.

Ah Rattlesnakes is a great album and song. And it has the line ' She looks like Eve Marie Saint in On the Waterfront as she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance'. Proper pretension! ;D

Speaking of Lars... I see Loutallica has an album coming out soon... that's Lou Reed & Metallica, if you hadn't heard.

Yeap, a bit curious about that one as well, two things I can't be bothered with nowadays might just make the right combination to do some fireworks! :D
