why would you want that? masochism? they look really ridiculous on that particular support slot especially stage-presence-wise. just recall Von's weird knee-bending.

Yeah, I was there, DM was magical, really. I went there for the Sisters but their afternoon-performance was weird. I remember that this was the first time I heard Doktor Avalanche so low and Floorshow was a disaster. I was there togeher with Wayne H., with girlfriend, and Patricia M.................. Wayne was there for DM, Patricia for the free drinks.........

IIRC it was a full moon..always magical..and the setlist of brilliance ending with the ingenious edit of everything counts..omg..the best stage and videoprojections Anton Corbijn ever made..

I sat next to Wayne and he clapped his hands politely between the songs at the Sisters show, and even sang along and stomped his feet during Amphetamine Logic.... yes it is absolutely true. He was not drunk (not yet). Patricia was really drunk.................. She did signed my Floodland-album, and kissed me on the mouth and then but her arms around me in a very uncomfortable way.
I really enjoyed the gig, even though I was stone cold sober. It started with 'Ribbons' which is the best way to start a Sisters gig IMHO.
Didn't intend to stay for the DM set but am very glad I did. I hadn't listened to them for years before then, but really enjoyed it and got back into them quite a bit.

I had some records (Floodland was one of them) with me as I was inviteted to the gig by Reptile House and was going to have them signed by Andrew, I had no idea then that Patricia also would be there.
I somehow manage to be a friend of both Andrew and Wayne, well, nowadays I only talk to Wayne every now and then. Don´t know why but Andrew has become difficult, we spoke much on the phone and saw each other a lot between 1991 and 2001 but since then I think that I had met him only once.
There's a DM film by Jeremy Dellor that mentions that concert also. It's a film about DM fans (the crazy ones in particular) and probably the best thing the artist has done though it seems the band didn't want it released. Mainly I suspect because it's just tooooo embarassing. Whatshisname who sings certainly isn't God!
A few replies to a fans Q&A from DM's Alan Wilder.
At the Crystal Palace gig with the Sisters of Mercy, did the two bands have much to do with each other. I remember Andrew Eldritch saying to the crowd "enjoy the puppet show" at the end of their set - just curious as to what went on backstage.
Nothing went on backstage - we didn't see Eldritch or his band. Where's his puppet show now? 'The Dog and Duck' - Luton?
Is it true that someone was inside your piano in Indianapolis (lastgig of the Devotional tour)? Any funny memories about that special gig?
Jez Webb - the guitar tech. - emerged, to my surprise, from the shell of the piano during 'Somebody' I think. This is a typical last-date-of-the-tour prank as has become tradition amongst the rock 'n' roll touring fraternity
