THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.
Izzy HaveMercy wrote:I hold the belief, as is the case in almost any band in the world, that there are questions that get discussed by the band first before an individual gives an answer to it.
Izzy HaveMercy wrote:The silly ones he answers indeed, but the sensible questions to me are the ones that Jeremiah asked a couple of posts before:'what about the new songs?' 'what about the long overdue album?' and 'what about the future of the Sisters?'
So you're saying - as someone who is himself in a band - that he shouldn't answer questions about things that any band would have to decide between themselves first, and you're also complaining that he won't answer questions about things that any band would have to decide between themselves first?
Being in a band myself, everything I post that is For Greater Good-related (or one of my other projects, but FGG is the one you will know me by) will be discussed with Sam first yes, but contrary to the Sisters, FGG is not a band that has kept his fans into total obscurity about a release for the last 15 years.
No, of course there aren't going to be any huge revelations - it's a short-form, informal, fun Q&A opportunity.
And that's a pity. I like fun and there are some nice and funny facts in there, that is NOT forbidden of course, but I like some info from time to time, and again, we are on our hunger regarding The Sisters. I find this frustrating, and I am venting this too much of late so I should better stop this for once and for all, I know
Again, Chris isn't just in the Sisters. I don't even think he considers the Sisters to be his main band.
Idea for a question: "If you'd known back before you joined just how much hassle you'd get from Sisters fanbois (and grrls) would you still have joined?"

Nobody in The Sisters is under any obligation to tell the fans anything about future plans.
They will know that their silence about the future may risk fans walking away and no longer attending gigs, hence affecting their major source of income. But that is their right to choose.
Maybe Chris has checked with what he can tell us. Maybe he hasn't so can't commit to anything.
Either way its a case of being grateful for what we do get.
If you're not happy with it then just keep it to yourself.
We know Chris reads the forums so if he were to stop answering questions because of some moaners then you'll be ruining it for everyone who is interested in his thoughts.

For some time mistery is a main part of TSOM public image.
That's why You can't expect to hear mucho words about any kind of new ablumos or new songs, because we didn't knew that from main and official source of information- interviews.
And maybe this lack of details comes from not informing El Grande Boss about that, maybe that's official information policy or maybe it's because it's not Mr Chris C. writing that himself but it's his guitar pick.

Izzy HaveMercy wrote:I find he's just as bad as the rest of the lot, which ain't really BAD of course but just as obscure as those before him. Nothing confirmed, nothing surprising, nothing. Just nothing. ... It sounds to me like the happy new kid being allowed to feed us scraps, sorry.
Stop being so grumpy, you two!
This is Chris answering questions on his own behalf about all of his various projects. It's not a Sisters of Mercy Q&A, it's a Chris Catalyst Q&A.
So if you're imagining the hand of Von performing some sort of Machiavellian puppet-mastery above the stage, cynically controlling the 'new kid', then I think you've bought into the myth flogged by too many lazy music journalists (and perpetuated in some of the more tedious discussions that happen on this forum).
If you don't like the answers he's giving out (at no charge, in his own time), then ask better questions.
Sure, he's not going to reveal what songs they'll play at forthcoming gigs - because I doubt that the set list is put together months in advance.
Nor is he going to
comment extensively on old Sisters history (not least because he wasn't there),
announce the release of a new Sisters record, or
reveal details of someone else's personal life or opinions (which would be plain rude)
However, from the questions so far (about the Sisters and all his other projects) he seems very happy to openly answer any sensible questions (and even some silly ones, too).

As if some Sisters moaners would stop Chris doing his thing

Haha, let's do it!
Seconded. Jeez - "Have you ever been to Andrew's house ?"

I posted the question on his formspringy just after posting it here

I've maded this question for him:
Did you consider The Sisters as your 'Main Band'?
Whoever I am working with at the time is my main band. Right now Eureka Machines is my main band, because I'm having some well-earned rest. But come November, you can be sure that The Sisters will be my main band. In December, Ginger And Friends will be my main band. Fortunately, I'm pretty good at multi-tasking.

Chris C. wrote:Of course I would. An opportunity like playing for the SIsters, touring the world and getting paid for it couldn't possibly be ruined by the occasional idiot. I am totally onboard with most Sisters fans, because I am a great fan of quite a few bands myself. When you are playing to a couple of thousand people a night, there's always going to be someone who thinks it's all on tape, or thinks the set could be more to their taste, or thinks I should be wearing Tony James' top hat. I reckon I come across more arseholes in supermarkets, manned car parks and Goole.

Well, that's me told

stunning post and i agree with you! Chris is an amazing full of life full of energy type of young man that enjoys doing what he is doing even in the band TSOM. tips hat that he does answer all the questions even the *not asked questions* but he does what he can, his best within what he can say. obviously he can't give out ALL the information he knows with all sorts of weirdos around, like stalkers & people asking the most ridiculous questions just because they can be asked. he gives loads away anyway as being an open person as he is in real life. and i personally enjoy the way he is in the sisters & then back again to being Chris with his feet on the ground and mind ticking at fifty thousand to a dozen with a fraction of a second!
