i'm looking to get some nearfield monitor speakers for my "studio" setup (ie: bedroom).
i only have about £250/300 to spend so am looking at "entry level" stuff
if possible, i'd like some active ones (ie: their own power supply)
i've been considering either the alesis m1 active mkII, the fostex pm1 or the behringer truth monitors.
all seem much of a muchness, and all seem quite popular. has anyone here got any views or any experience of any of these?
they will connected to my pc and used for recording cubase vst-based electronic & guitar-based stuff. if its of any significance, my soundcard is an m-audio audiophile 2496

EDIROL do some nice kit.
It also not to pricey. My MA-10A's aren't active but they sound great

The Alesis is very good, no doubt about that...Quiff Boy wrote:a little research at dinner has nudged the alesis M1s slghtly ahead of the others...
With your budget, buy them if you can find them for that price...
Expect Behringer to give 'white noise', that's the main prob with all Behringer equipment, in my opinion...
The Fostex, well, do not have much practice with them, but I heard some very good comments on their LF technology. The ones you pointed out have that, so mebbe.....

Oh, and ditch the Cubase VST.
Get the new Nuendo instead, it's ace!
