Not to sound like an overly politically correct tool, but am I really the only one that is highly irritated by a user nick like "Burzum" on heartland?

It certainly doesn't bother me,it's the old question though, should you not like certain music just because of the political beliefs of the retards that make it?

I am completely aware of who the original band/the musician guy is, and I don't dig him, the musician, but yeah I think you are being a bit overly sensitive. Isn't there for example a username on HL that happened to be the fond nickname of Mussolini? I wouldn't take everything so seriously.
And on another note, I find it not so brotherly to start a topic like this. I never seen the user in question write anything mean or wrong, and he might be a bit surprised when he comes here next time.
Not just political beliefs either - what about someone like Gary Glitter? Should people stop listening to his records because of his crimes? We know what Eldo's answer to this is because he went and covered one of his songs to show that despite what happened, it doesn't stop some of the songs from being bloody good Rock n' Roll songs.ribbons69 wrote:It certainly doesn't bother me,it's the old question though, should you not like certain music just because of the political beliefs of the retards that make it?

Get Bent! dummkopf
Burzum has put an awful lot more into this forum than you have with your 'eletist trading' moves. Anyhoo Burzum is just some mental Swedish/Nordick black metal band in my books.
If you really want to join in here, be a bit more open and forthcoming.

I'd have to read who or what it is you're refering to, dummkopf. But I won't even.
The choice of a user name for an internet forum is of hardly any relevance compared to the behaviour of that person within the forum ...
Why didn't you send a PM to Burzum and ask him/her about his/her intentions as to that choice? I thought this were a Sisters Forum!
I really find it more remarkable that by now people are openly questioned on here just because of the choice of their username.
In effect, all of this seems to be quite symptomatic for something which might be running slightly wrong here at the moment.
Sad to notice, but thanks for the hint.
Of course and to your relief, dummkopf, I need to confess that I'd find it tasting, err ... funny as well having
to address someone daily as ..... well no, I won't tell what. Otherwise someone might take it as an invitation ... ...
Anyway, I'd put up with that. Names are just for souvenirs ...
@ Burzum
Sorry that things as such have occured here to you. I actually feel dirtied and ashamed by this as well.
So, please don't let this bring you down or even make you leave. It's just some idiocy of the moment on dummkopf's part, I guess ... ...

For all it's worth, I wasn't questioning let alone attacking the person behind the nick. I was asking what the general take is on promoting artists who's sole artistic drive is to spread racially motivated hate. In my book, picking a certain nick equals 'promoting'. It is a statement, just like adopting the number 88 for a user account name. Ever since my introduction to TSOM I perceived the band and their audience to be rather left leaning, so I was surprised to see the choice of said nick go uncommented. Fair enough if that makes me the 'bad guy'.

no no no dear. we just stick an awesome name or not to be an user id. not all of us are racially motivated in hate. actually as a fan of this band and having met more than i guess 10% probably more in real life and not any one fan i've met is about hate. it's more about love ... but sshhh... that's just the secrect within these walls. and you are not seen as the 'bad guy'!
it's about insight, nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks for this explanation, dummkopf. That makes your idea more understandable.dummkopf wrote:For all it's worth, I wasn't questioning let alone attacking the person behind the nick. Anyway, the numerology thing is something the Nazis have dared to avail themselves of as well.
What with any users born in 1988. Should they be denied chosing a username like birth88? Come on... ...

That's why I carefully phrased it 'a certain nick' as opposed to a 'random' one. Of course there is not necessarily a political implication in picking let's say "birth88" for a nick. "Combat88" on the other side, and I am putting it mildly, at least has enough potential to earn you a raised eye brow. As far as "Burzum" goes, Varg Vikernes musical outlet is widely considered to be the spearhead of the "National Socialist Black Metal" 'movement'. Even though, if we were to split hairs, it's technically an incorrect perception, as none of his lyrics deal with subject matters of racism or antisemitism. He instrumentalizes his interviews for that. Different strategy, same ballgame. Would anyone have ever cared about his music if it weren't for all the 'sidegimmickery'? IMHO, the answer is no. And that's why mainstream cultures adaption and/or tolerance of crap like Burzum annoys me. I can't even go to a single DIY show with a 'heavy' band on the bill without someone showing up in a Burzum shirt. Coming from a punk rock background, I might be a bit overly sensitive in that respect. However, s**t is just wrong.Being645 wrote:Thanks for this explanation, dummkopf.
