Still playing guitar - sometimes weird shaped ones.

Going next week...
All previous sins with TT are forgiven - yes, Jackson was right to move Shelobs Lair to this movie. The whole thing with Aragorn not wanting to be king makes sense. Some of the speculation about some bits was so way off it's laughable. Naturally, there was some stuff cut from the book, but it's the most faithful of the three, and there are only two major departures (one of which was slightly annoying, the other one didn't really matter). There are some scenes in the trailer which didn't make it into the theatrical cut.
About 3 and a half hours, it's a right bum number.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
Just remember this. This rabble you keep talking about does most of the working, paying and dying in this community.
An extra hour I reckon. Can't wait!!!Padstar wrote:And we just know that the extended DVD is going to have all the bits missed in it! But how long is it likely to be !!!

I loved the first two but am a bit worried re the spider in this one.
What I need to know is, is it hairy? (yikes) or is it more like a big scorpiony exoskeleton deal? ( I could deal with that, if the movements are not too authentically arachnid)
Mock if you like

Sounds very authentically arachnid to me. I'm told. In a rare moment when I took my hands off from over my ears, and stopped saying 'la la la'. Some stuff slips through sometimes.

Damn! I got a capon ordered for Christmas too, his stuffing was to die for.

While much of it is spectacular, I have to say I was mildly disappointed.
Too much has been cut from the end and it all feels terribly rushed from Mount Doom onwards. The opening scene is also rather gratuitous.
I am sure the special edition next year will help to mollify both Mr Lee and I.
I have been a little bit disgruntled with all the films by the obvious attempts to jazz it up for the MTV Generation.
IMO we should teach the buggers how to use items such as the humble apostrophe, not indulge their limited attention spans, but I digress.
Never mind, I am sure I will grow to like it increasingly as time passes.

You are what you drink - I'm a bitter man!
Thats an interesting thing to say Erudite. I haven't read the books so I can't compare them with the films. But I saw RotK tonight and thought it was awesome. All three films are landmarks. I didn't mind the multiple endings too much either. It's nice to see what happens to the characters, especially after 9+ hours of films.Erudite wrote:I have been a little bit disgruntled with all the films by the obvious attempts to jazz it up for the MTV Generation.
To not know and to ask a question is a moment of embarrassment; to not know and not ask is a lifetime of shame.

I thought it was wonderful and managed not to make a noise or shut my eyes during the spidery bits. Just. Oooh it was nasty though. I'm sure I shall have vivid memories of it in the nights to come.
Normally anything featuring spiders has me out of the door in half a second so it's a tribute to this film that I stayed where I was.
