Hadn't realised that. Knew about RH but had always assumed that Gary and Ben were back for TOL. Maybe that's why they could never nail it live.

I remember talking about his guitar playing in UTR, probably.

I believe he touched base separately with RH and Floodland, saying something to the effect of him being able to compose the ToL intro out of the blue, but being unable to "learn" parts from the outside. Also, him playing it in the studio has been cited as a reason why it wasn't played early on as much.

On Floodland, he mentioned mixing the guitars down on purpose. I recall he found them a bit spotty for his tastes; it was him playing them, after all.

Bear in mind that Jaz Coleman is the man who went off to live in Iceland in the early 80s to avoid the apocalypse, which he predicted was coming soon...

To be fair, his fears that the UK economy was due to collapse because it was too tightly tied to the US economy was only wrong in the timescale. He reckoned 20 months, it was more like 20 years... but bang on.

I also saw a video from this time when he had a pop at Death Cult, "another poxy tribal band". Jaz is nothing if not mind-blowingly overblown... he has mellowed though. I love him.

As I understood it, Coleman's prediction was of a proper end-of-the-world apocalypse based on his (then) interest in the occult and numerology, rather than an economic prediction of a downturn in global markets.

His apocalyptic visions included all you mention, but I did find a clip on YouTube from around this time when he was mainly banging on about the economy.

It wasn't a simple "the bombs going to blow" belief, but it never is with end-of-the-world-ers.

Jaz's current fears are all about food supply and being culled by the NWO ( for want of a better term ) but they come across as less crazy... to me at least.

There's at least one other guitarist on Floodland. A while ago I identified loads of musicians mentioned in the sleeve notes thanks and posted the info on the forum although I can't remember the thread. Off the top of my head though, Sid McGinness was definitely one of them. They're not actually credited as having played on the album but it makes sense that they did.

At the time, I assumed Jaz had run off to Iceland to study leylines and hang out with Peyr, but he was clearly researching deregulation plans for the nation's banks ...
Still, not bad predictions for a soothsayer. What were his intials again ?

The Pink Floyd thing isn't off at all- that sound had been around for a good long while at that point.

Now, I think Geordie is a much more distinctive player than Wayne. He rocked/rocks that sound in a different way than most. The other guitarist in my band acknowledges this, and he's not a big Sisters nerd.

There is a consistency of sorts to the guitar lines and guitar tones and I would assume that's 's influence. If I was totally new to this band and unaware of their history, I would not expect massive lineup changes.

Or, perhaps, I might expect massive lineup changes with one guy running the show. Perhaps the drummer. Realistically, it's been the Vision Thing sound since Vision Thing. Now, I like that record, so I am okay with this.
