We haven't had a nonsense thread like this in years.

Make sandwiches rather than eat that concoction you put in the fridge yesterdaymh wrote:Minced beef. Cook it with oxtail soup. Mash it up with potatoes, add ketchup, broon sauce and/or mustard (English preferably, French will do, none of that yellow American hot dog crap) to taste.
Stick it in the fridge overnight.
Make sandwiches.

Cheese and beans in a toastie, via Breville toasted sandwich maker...

Curry sandwiches are good too.
In fact, curry chip sandwiches are the best. Christ, it's been ages - I totally forgot about curry chip sandwiches. That's tomorrow sorted then.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

if you're feeling really sleazy i (hesitatingly) recommend a bean and noodle butty
baked beans and those cheap supermarket own-brand version of super noodles that cost about 7p on bread
takes 2 minutes to make and costs about 20p depending on which make of bread and beans you use... perfect for when you stumble in after a club and you're skint

...and the topic has descended to discussing the topic... and now I'm making it about the topic being about itself.

I introduced my Scandinavian to beans on toast, and she approved wholeheartedly. I also made her first ever fish-finger and ketchup sandwich (when my savings account met Finland's inflation rates and cost of living and gave up the ghost with a hollow groan) and she was likewise greatly impressed. I however remained censorious over pickled herring, salmiakki (revolting aniseed-y type sweets.) and flat rye bread hard enough to break your teeth on! She's more adventurous than me. Probably explains why she rarely wears knickers when indoors.

How do you cook your beans? The tried and tested way is of course just to warm them in a saucepan, but my father used to do them in the frying pan with a little cooking oil (well, back then, thirty years ago it would have been lard ) I still add a little oil sometimes if I do beans now.

I was inspired and had beans last night. Microwaved, with cheese and toast. And just to be fancy a few grilled cherry tomatoes with herbs. Oooh err
