My performance to the Sisters' Body and Soul

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I've recently uploaded a video from one of my performances with The Alternative Paint Cabaret, playing with paint to the sounds of the Sisters :innocent:
You can see it right here if you're interested:

And here's our channel, if you wanna see more:

And in another topic, I was asked by the website Spykeheels, to give the top 10 songs that made my 2011. They didn't have to be from 2011, that's why most of them are a lot older... Of course that the Sisters are the 1st on that list!
If you wanna see what else is there, here's the link :wink: :

My wife was wondering at what point do you get naked. I think she was quite enjoyig it until it stopped!
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity

I never understood dance and i probalby never will. Once i was close when i was at David Byrne "Everything that happens" tour.
And that is not insult i just do not understand dance as something to pass emotions and/or feelings.
But i do enjoyed... well, ermm, watch how you move and admired your body (and soul). :oops: :wink:

I'm ashamed that the same thought crossed my mind too :-0

A little too 'wet and messy' for me, this level of 'goo' interferes with my OCD, but you are incredibly elegant- almost other-worldly at the beginning.

That's ok, you really don't need to understand dance to enjoy our shows.. :wink:
Thank you :.)

I'm sure she'd be happy to hear that! :D

Well, our show is all about the 'wet and messy', after all- it's a body painting show.. :wink:
Glad to hear you at least enjoyed the first part! Thank you very much!

that was really embarrassing, amateur, without form or function and rather alternative :oops:

at least you're happy :|
alternative = naff
It's all such a dreary fiction.

Unfortunately, I have to agree ... why try to jump on a cheap train? Your other performance (at that bodypaint meeting) was way more impressing ...

As to The Raven ... she knows how to move ... natural and bizarre at the same time ... a good point for that.

Body And Soul IS not all that easy to perfom in dance, I think.
When listening, one thinks it is a long song, but then again, it is not that long ...
That makes a detailed concept requisite, if you really want to get something
more across than only ...hhm, mere physical aspects and impression ... still, that would be worth another try ...

I had no idea, it were tantamount to being an "expert" of "dancing with the stars" (whatever that is) to express one's views ...

Fortunately, we have the great monitor of communicational correctness among us ... so tell me, should I delete my post, because one doesn't say such things?

Stop BeingSilly, this is garbage called The Net, so you can write whatever you like. Like i have to write mine silly comments.
You didn't wrote only: i don't like it; Writing and/or supporting opinion like: "amateur, without form or function" is something completely different, showing that you know something about dance. And that's what I was trying to say (in extreme short cut, i have to admit that).

I'm pretty sure, nobody wrote their words here in the way you want to understand ... But this is the silly internet, so you are forgiven ... :lol: ...

@Salome
Don't worry. I'm sure the majority should be quite fond of your entire performance ...
and anyway, it's great you're doing it all and let us have part in what you do!

Well, I don't know what is your dance or choreography background, but I'm creating shows for about 10 years now, studied dance and theatre since a very young age and I am a world-known body painter, who is invited to judge in festivals around the world, as well as to teach both body painting and show choreography. There for- amateur it is not.
Even though this particular group is not even 1 year old, we were already performing in the worlds biggest body painting festival and we've created a lot of interest in this field, so yes- I AM happy :wink:
As for embarrassing- well, I don't know what gets you embarrassed, guess it's seeing a girl dance with paint.. :roll:

Well, it is a Cabaret. A cabaret is a sexy show. Combining that with body painting, which is a form of art that uses the body (usually in the nude) and a lot of mess, automatically makes it even sexier. So yes, we do a fun and sexy show and we don't see what is the problem with that. What's wrong with celebrating your body and being sexy? Also, I always make sure to keep a defined border between sexy and a sex show. Yes, we have naked girls on stage, but the sexiest dances are always with clothes on.
I know we're doing a very controversy show, that some people might find too much, but there would always be people who wouldn't like what you do, we can't please all! :wink:
Still, we always have a clear concept behind it, it's not just being sexy, it is art. First of all, what I like to explore in my art is the primal feeling and joy of getting dirty. It's like when a child is painting and gets paint all over- that's part of the fun! When I dance with paint, then my body is the canvas and also my dress and the floor, it all becomes a piece of art.
This particular number is from a show that's called "Bodies". in this show we celebrate the human body and the connection between the body and the paint.
The choreography tells the story of the connection between the body and the soul through paint. I'm coming in all in white and in the process of going mental I turn colourful.
So some people would only see the girl that does a sexy dance in front of them, others would see the idea behind it. Both are fine with us! :lol:
As for the first video we uploaded- that was from the World Body Painting Festival, on an unbelievably gigantic stage where I could place 7 performers together, have ballerinas jumping in the air etc etc... Here it was a small show in a gallery as a part of an art event and we could only have 1-2 people performing at the same time, hence the huge difference. (by the way, in the festival I also did my paint-dancing thing.. :.P)

Sorry this was such a long message, hope you survived this far :wink:

... :lol: ... no worries. And as I said, I do like the part of The Raven ... it reflects exactly the concept of a cabaret show as you describe ... and it's done very well.

And yes, of course, I see what you've been doing with Body And Soul and of course, I have also seen your idea of "going mental" ... that's why I wrote it were worth another attempt ... :wink: ...

On the other hand, that could be asking for too much considering that it is a cabaret show ...

Anything which adds something to the doomy dirge of Body and Soul is good in my book. It's probably only in Mitteleuropa that experimental performance art will get a fair hearing these days. You can imagine an audience for this in Berlin or Prague as well as Vienna, but probably not in Bilston or Auchenleck.

Thank you very much :.) I think that there is space for shows like these in every main city, even outside of Europe. We're actually in contact with festivals from different parts of the world, but yeah, they're not in Bilston or Auchnleck :wink:

Oh, thank you very much Andie! :D
At the moment we started working with a new manager and he's gonna do the booking for the shows from now on, so I still don't really have dates yet, but I will surely write them here when I'll have them!
The only thing that is already booked, is the next World Body Painting Festival in July. We'll be performing at the craziest party there- The Bodycircus. 8)
