FALAA went gold in Germany in 2011

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hi folks, FALAA went gold in Germany last year. 250,000 sold copies...
I think that's more albums sold than in the UK?!

It's only taken it 26 years.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

 ... what a contrast to the real impact they've always had ... ...

Also somewhat saddening, but hell ... it's 2012 and that is - another era ... ;D ...

.. and each person buying 5 copies.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Thanks, I already was looking for "THE sisters of mercy" there ;)

Isn't 5x Gold for different stuff good enough? These days you need to sell less then a half records to gain old status^^

it is good, just surprised it took till 2011 for FALAA to go gold in Germany. Still they should be platinum! hehe

Yeah, they were/are, but let's be honest, FALAA in particular isn't exactly a vey commercial release, sound- and production-wise.

Yeah, 'knight rider' was for kids- i remember when i was watching it. But, 'bay watch' with plastic boobs and bikins? Who knew, i never watched it, so maybe you're right.

He was looking for freedom.

Yeah, they wore hot bathing suits, but weren't they always dragging some ridiculously good looking man out of the water and saving him by mouth-to-mouth-breathing? ;)

Maybe it was that Scooter cover of Marian that boosted their album sales!

Would've went gold there in ten minutes flat if the music videos featured the girls in leather aprons and proban boiler suits wielding hammers to beat their anvil-drums in spark-shrewn foundries. Rest of the world might've been less keen, tho...

Probably true. If they'd put their own version out as a single in (West) Germany in 1985, FALAA would possibly have gone gold then.
