Hotels
Planning a mini jaunt to London and Berlin quite soon. Anybody know some good and reasonably cheap hotels there in a central location? Ta muchly!

Depends what you mean by "good". There's a Travelodge right across the road from Baker Street tube station and one five minutes walk from Kings Cross. of course, there are many others but I've stayed in those two and can attest that they do what a Travelodge does and are near the tube. I chose them because they were convenient for the things I was doing each time but once you've got the hang of the underground, it's a cinch to get pretty much anywhere in London. Of the two I'd recommend the Baker Street one because the surrounding area has better amenities but basically my advice is find somewhere near a tube station.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.
I stayed in the Circus in Berlin last year: http://www.circus-berlin.de/
It was quite good and conveniently located for almost everything, very good ambience and great staff.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The Velvet Hotel that Quiffy points out is fab; I've stayed there a few times. But it is not cheap.

Sorry, should have said that my earlier post applied to London. (I'd completely missed that you were going to Berlin too!)

Last time I went to Berlin I stayed in Pegasus Hostel. A bit clinical but location wise pretty ok (near Frankfurter Tor and close as can be to Berghain), and the normal rooms were clean and hotel-like. Price was pretty good too IIRC!
And, I've said it before (elsewhere), Tacheles was just a junk yard begging to be turned into history in order to leave its mythical reputation intact.
