Which band/singer is better than the Sisters?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. I agree with this; no-one really hitting the highs in the early 90s as you say, but I'd put in as 'good' bands: Suede and RadioHead, who i thought did some sterling work around then.

With all the on-line boots you can download, I probably listen to the sisters more than ever. I still get absolutely euphoric when the venue is flooded with dry ice & the intro music comes on...

The only live acts that come into a similar league are/were Bowie & (reformed) The Stooges & to a lesser degree New Order.

Can't agree ... Andrew Eldritch is capable of singing in a way nobody else ever could, nowadays as ever ...

Though, I'm pretty sure that

a) he doesn't sing (interprete) songs the way he did when those tracks were recorded ...

b) he generally wouldn't want to sing in certain ways to avoid inconveniences ...

No problem with that on my part ... to me his singing is impressive enough ...

Maybe he is capable of singing in a way nobody else ever could, nowadays as ever... But he does "sing" in a different way overall than he did when the band was... a band (!).... which makes it a personal taste, and nothing else. I liked one of his singing style, not so much the other. Hence my "question" - if the original question in this tread was referring to Andrew before or after 1993...

Shame none of them allowed themselves to see (or admit seeing) Zeppelin, Hawkwind, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Motorhead. Rock'n'roll is a groovy re-invention machine and long may it be loud and drenched in drama and dry ice x

I always preferred "Sounds" to the "NME" but I have seen Hawkwind, Thin Lizzy and Motorhead.

And if Rock 'n' Roll is such a "groovy re-invention machine" what are you doing on a fan-site for a band that haven't really done anything for the last 20 years?
