Anyone think the song Ribbons is vastly overrated?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

For me it changed VT from being an OK album to a Sisters album....

Yes, definitely one of the best.
Only wish the live version was longer (because it's so good, I never want it to stop...).

Studio version is great. Live it's a feral howl shining in the darkness. I adore it.

I love it. Multi-layered musical orgy of sound, especially the whispered/groaned bits at the end listened to on hi def headphones... mmmm.

(and for the record, for the sub-thread... I have the first 2 bars of Black Planet as my sms alert and the start of Dominion as my ring tone)

It isn't possible to 'overrate' a Sisters track - though I do find Vision Thing a much maligned album round these here parts, hot diggity. Much as I love Wayne and Gary's work, I'm just basically a metal guitar whore. And Ribbons is the best of the best of the best - SIR!!

GRAMMAR POLICE!

The joke was assuming no one would agree with the topic title, so the "Yeah" was in agreement with the assumed response of "no", Mr. Nitpick. :)

i find if you want people to answer your question correctly it's always best if they can understand it ;)

Why is it overrated? I don't see a major gushing about this title. Many people might like it but does it automatically mean that it's overrated?

Judging by the responses in this thread, there didn't seem to be a lot of confusion. 8)

It's alright, not the best song on the album but it is a good intro track before they start the rest of the set.
