Unkle Jame~ez

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I think (or at least hope) that he'll be back.

I hope he's well. Always liked that curmudgeonly old bastard.

Well isn't it strange who turns up on a day like this?
I wondered the same thing recently, having read about the troubles that struck Blast!ville a while ago, so I dug through piles of pieces of paper and and called the FOF fae Glesga.

In a nutshell, he's not dancing on the tables, but things are getting along.
But don't hold your breath for him to reappear around here.

By the way, Blasty, who art, as I, undoubtedly lurking this place for sure occasionally, I was glad to hear things didn't go for the worst case scenario. I guess you know why. If not, the guessing is up to you.

I look forward to hopefully see some of my old HL pals in Collogne, if I am happy enough to still get a ticket.

Damn, I have become one of those weirdo ex-frequent posters who will crawl from their remote ends of the shelves here and there to sound so much insider..
I beg your forgivenesses.

Cheers!

Again, I hope he's well. If I'm ever in Glasgow I would like to hoist a few pints with the man. Or he in Texas.

I'm late to the party on this conversation, but it may bring someone a hint of joy to know that he still honors humble requests. As stated elsewhere here on HL, I had misplaced my copy of the Longfolk cd (and had a noose ready). I wrote to JR through his website and he kindly sent the tracks by email AND included a song called "Manhatten Smile" which imported in my iTunes as a 25men track from an album called "Songs for Old Men". It is VERY much like a Longfolk track.

Lastly, I recently discovered the Gangwar studio track "Blue Lover" via YouTube and JR's cover of the Recoil song "Faith Healer". I have both tracks as an MP3 and continue pondered their origin, and if other such hidden gems will one day appear. I welcome a Blasted response or any other Overbomber insight.
My existence would be more satisfied with a greater collection of James Ray recordings.

You sure you're talking about the same James? :innocent:
Still, every news of Eric is good news (I heard some good things about him a few weeks ago that made me happy), so nice to hear he's still promoting his Longfolk work. I love that stuff!
Anyway, Blue Lover is from the Third Generation album: http://www.discogs.com/James-Rays-Gangw ... ter/140973

Thanks, Radio... I have the actual disc of Third Gen but apparently it was not imported with the rest of hte tracks into my iTunes... so its like a hidden gem discovered late. Thanks for pointing that out.

The Manhatten Smile track (yes, it is spelled that way) is a slow-beat, acoustic based track with harmonica, strumming guitar and drums... add in a echoey guitar and JR's perfect whispered lyrics of love and you have a Smile to enjoy. Lyrics begin with "if you can make me feel better, if you can make me feel tall, if you can love me when I hate you, if you could love me at all..."

GEEZ... now I'm confused! My first reference was to Longfolk and "JR", then 25Men and Gangwar. (I know his name is Eric, but I respect any moniker.... you may call me Doctor OR Docktor :) Now I'm not sure if I joined the right conversation or not :P

Some news from either "James" is always welcome ... :D ...

As to James Ray, on this MySpace Page one can listen to The Otherfolk - Between Those States Of Mind ...

EDIT:
I wasn't aware of these Longfolks/Otherfolks things ... should make some note in the Wiki ... :| ...

definitely the wrong conversation, but that's no problem man. As I said before, any talk about JR is good talk in my book ;D

That Manhatten smile song sounds like a real good one. Am very curious to hear it.

'Our' James did do some artwork for JR/25men, didn't he?
