Cult/Mish/Joke fail to sell out Wembley!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Ticketmaster have just left me a message saying that the venue for the Wembley Cult/Mish/Killing Joke gig has been moved to Hammersmith.

A case of poor ticket sales?

Does anyone know any more?

The 'official excuse' is to provide "a more intimate gig".

Pah!

Who on earth managed to convince them that they could sell out, what, five arenas? Maybe one, but five?! In the same country!

Wonder if the Girls would sell out Hammersmith these days. It's almost double the capacity of the Roundhouse, for example. Sad days for fans of our style of music.

Nothing to do with "our style of music". They're old bands from 25 years ago who haven't had hits (or, in some cases, released anything) for decades.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Exactly. More evidence that support for "our style of music" continues to ebb away - hardly cause for celebration.

I think we can't complain - I don't care if a band plays in a big stadium/festival or a small venue.

Me too.
I'm not one for piling down the front anymore & if the venue is more intimate, at least the bands don't look like ants.
I thought it was a bit ambitious to do all those arenas tbh

I mean, they're not The Cure are they?

:innocent:
Cheers.

This thread seems a bit behind the times. ALL the gigs were dowsized about four weeks ago. Check one of the bands' official sites for details.

And nobody else has made comparable music since.

KJ have possibly pulled out.

I read the post on the KJ wall, briefly before it was pulled - it was a bit OTT and has since been refitted and said to be a fake, but whoever made it raised some interesting & valid (imho) points about the whole thing, and especially about the Cult and their dressing room "VIP access" charges :urff:

I'm impressed with Wayne's response though - it's intelligent, calm and measured, and very frank.

The whole thing has turned into a bit of a debacle though

Just to make things even more bizarre Killing Joke have posted this today:

FTZZZZZZZZ - coming back onto your radar, we've got some news from HQ. We've confirmed a new London show on Saturday September 8th. It's at the rather intimate, very special Metropolis Studios in London. This is a truly one of a kind Killing Joke performance in front of cameras, with a full VIP experience, complimentary drinks, and a chance to all unwind together after the show. You'll receive a personal lanyard pass and your name on the credits of the show's DVD as well. What better way to come together. Regards.

Now this is all very lovely but the ticket price is only £195.00 +£9.80 booking fee.

£204.80?!? WTF
