New book mid August

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Seems to be an exclusive Eldritch interview in it too.
From the makers of Classic Rock and Metal Hammer comes a brand new publication: The Cure & The Story Of The Alternative 80s.

This one-off magazine includes exclusive new interviews with Sisters Of Mercy, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, The m*****n, Love And Rockets, Killing Joke and Fields Of The Nephilim.

Plus – features on The Cure, The Cult, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Damned and an article on the new/metal goth – including Marilyn Manson, HIM, Cradle Of Filth, Nightwish, Wednesday 13, White Zombie, Tiamat and Type O Negative.

Also – reviews of the songs and albums that defined the era and the sound.

The Cure & The Story Of The Alternative 80s goes on sale on August 17.
Cheers.

I see that the "free" CD is called "Black planet" - very original.
Very strange that there is no mention of the seemingly taboo G-word in any of the pre-publicity. Still, despite my cynicism I'll be first in the queue at WH Smiths in a fortnight. "Dominion" ( ) has shown that there's definitely a gap in the market for a publication in English covering the darkside, so hopefully it'll shift a few copies.

Interesting!

That Classic Rock editor seems to be quite into the better goff rock stuff. It was them that had that Eldritch interview a while ago in their mag and haven't they done something similar a few years ago?

It will probably take a few weeks longer for it reach Belgian shops, but then I will get me one...

Is that a book?

Make that "just a really expensive magazine". Not sure many of the regular readership of either "Classic Rock" or "Metal Hammer", the producers of the 'zine will be tempted to buy it.

Pre-ordered my copy, even though, ffs, I certainly can't afford it. Ah, well, once a dodgy g0th, always a dodgy g0th, innit. I've been in denial for far too long (I attempted a 1970s hippie revival on a couple of occasions...both of which lasted a full 5 minutes), and really ought to just stfu and joyfully embrace the heavy-black-eyelinered foolishness in all its (former) glory. Muahahaha! ;D :von: :notworthy:

Penny dreadful. ;D

Why has there never been a Bond girl called "Penny Dreadful"?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

From the publicity blurb :

"This one-off magazine blah blah blah"

So definitely not a book. Thank goodness we got that one sorted.
