Boss vs. Von

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

If you'd put Springsteen & Eldritch on stage together, who would have the bigger ego?
Only the Americans could have built a place like this in the middle of a jungle.

Ha ha, oh Eldritch wins that one without breaking a sweat! Seriously, the guy is 20 years past his prime but he still moves between various secret addresses for fear of stalkers. I love the guy, but his self-image is absurd! :)

But the thing is, it's a computer. Filling that thing with 40 songs should be no problem whatsoever. It's not like Von doesn't have the time....

While I am very, very sympathetic to the point you are making, I must ask: have you ever programmed drums for a band? I have. Honestly, it is probably more time-consuming than those who have not done it realize.

Well, yeah...you have a point. ;) I have in fact done some stuff like that, and it did seem to take forever.
So I guess I'll be happy if by next tour they change half the songs in there, and include some NEW stuff.

Yeah but once they're done they're saved and you can just reuse them any time. It's not as if he needs to spend time programming new drum patterns.

Seconded.

As for Hough End, well you're gonna keep quiet about being that close to Bramley, arn't yer.

Surely you're not suggesting he's lazy, right?

Hardware changes often necessitate reprogramming songs, too. I seem to recall seeing somewhere that Chris is tasked with programming drums nowadays. And wasn't Andreas in charge of that in the VT days?

Well someone slept with all the girls in Leeds 13.

Is LS13 the new LS6?

wonder why that might be :innocent:
Maybe so...
however they could do Heartland, Some Kind Of Stranger, Black Planet, Gimme Shelter, Possession, Lights, Valentine, Body And Soul, Adrenochrome, Poison Door, Blood Money, Bury Me Deep, Walk Away, Torch, Driven Like The Snow, Nine While Nine, Emma. 16 songs rarely o never performed. Let go that all may not work live, but most will (well all, considering they are occasionally give a go at Good Things) and they could easy give two concerts with a very varied setlist.

i guess you're right.

or if they can't be bothered rehearsing/programming/remembering the lyrics of 16 songs they could just play Lights 20 times ;D .

Aye and he's welcome to them. Besides which, surely Leeds 4 is where it's at.

Bradford postcodes will sadly never be where anythings at. But at least Bruce effin Springsteen will never play here (trying to revert to topic of sorts).

At the risk of sounding alarmingly middle aged, can we just be a little bit more respectful of the fellow who's given us so many good things.

NB : it's not Springsteen I meant there, I have no opinion on that front.

Oh interesting! I'd forgotten about that lot! I always assumed that Leeds 13 (in this context) referred to the LS13 postcode area.

I have loads of respect for what he did twenty-odd years ago. Not so much for what he's doing now.

Eh, it's fine. I'd like a new record, but I've resigned myself to never getting one. What he's doing now (working for a living) seems perfectly respectable to me. It's not like he's on some deranged reality TV show or something. Again, it's not what I'd prefer. There's something to be said for going it alone, independent, DIY, etc. Of course, there are lots of other bands that have done it and managed to release great records.
