The Marching Men - Market Research

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Right then, the question arose at one practice about what we should focus on doing. A suggestion was put forward that we ask you 'orrible lot

The basic question is: Which era of The Sisters should we (ahem) cover:

1 Up to and including First And Last And Always.

2 Up to and including Floodland.

3 Up to and including Vision Thing.

Thanks in advance.

Focus on the best songs from each era. And make them all sound the same ;)

Or, alternatively, focus on songs that are never performed live but would work very well in that context. And make them all sound the same ;)

The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

Just play the ones you enjoy or you'll end up putting on halfhearted performances... Audiences are for losers

Make your own songs and make them better than the Sisters'!

And throw in the occasional cover, say, one from each era you suggested ;)

It would appear option 1 is streaking ahead - if you can trend with five votes...

Early Sisters stuff, plus some of your personal favourites that aren't performed live these days? & as I've said before, I would have thought that an audience might enjoy a cover "in the style of" - a cover of a cover as it were.

That's a good idea! Do the "songs the Sisters should have covered" thing.
