I know this will bore you to tears, but my question is this: does the US version of VISION THING on Elektra really have different mixes of "Something Fast", "When You Don't See Me" and "Dr Jeep" or are the different track durations just a printing mistake or something of that sort? Sorry...

I think, they have.
I had a German and an American version of Vision Thing.
The latter was, however so nerving, I cut the vinyl into small pieces ... ...
On the other hand, the cover showed a bit more contrast.
So I kept that one and destroyed the German cover instead ... ...

Yes, I seem to remember that the cover artwork was some black-on-black photograph, like the Velvet Underground's second album...

Sadly, the answer is NO. The US version is identical to the standard CD version. The timing discrepancies are only part of the artwork. But they give a hint which L.A. mixes were dropped from the release in favour of earlier rough mixes.

The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

Not strictly true. The US version fixes the error on the German CD that places the end of Ribbons at the start of Detonation Boulevard. You're right about the printed timings though, they're all over the place.Fodderstompf wrote:Sadly, the answer is NO. The US version is identical to the standard CD version. I think the mastering is different too. The Elektra mastering engineers give more preference to the top end on F&L&A and Floodland, I think the same is true for Vision Thing.
