Whitby Gothic Style!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Goths have sense of humour shock ! Strange that the lyrics name check the Sisters and that it has aroused so much discussion here when TSOM are so famously not goth.
Over 125,000 views in 3 days  What's the betting that by Christmas it has more views than any Sisters vid on YouTube (currently Lucretia with just over 4 million)

So True Boss.
Makes me never want to go to Whitby Goth weekend again after seeing that . I work with Dicks at work who are into that crap. What next , these pretend Goths getting filmed dancing at a Robbie bstard Williams concert and loving it. As you said boss, It just ain't even funny.
I go to gigs, and if there is any money left, I eat

Not long after they got bored copying Pirates of The Caribbean.

But if you think about it logically, Steampunk is what Cybergoth should be.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

There's fun and there's fun...this on the Gordon Brown Smile Scale is a cringeworthy 7.

Why is it cringeworthy?

I enjoyed the shambolic dance stuff a lot.

It's a flipping p*ss take ffs.

What Steve said. :|

Though I loathe the whole "Gangnam Style" thing (more like GAGnam, imho :urff:), and think it's imbecilic and irritating as hell, I'm frankly shocked at some of the responses in this thread to our Tim's vid. Really, the "gothier-than-thou" attitudes have put me right off - they're why I dropped out of the "scene" time and again in L.A. and Chicago, because I couldn't handle the arrogance and pretentiousness of what amounted to a bunch of petty wankers.

I'll never forget an evening years ago at an L.A. goth club, where everyone was engaged all night in a desperate attempt to out-goth one another. As the night drew to a close, the DJ suddenly slapped on Deee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart." I marveled at how effortlessly the whole catty, spiteful lot of 'em went from "Helter Skelter trotting" to furiously wiggling their black-clad booties. It totally made my night, and I realized then what a big fucking joke it all was.

Shall the Whitby folks who hammed it up for the video be required to relinquish their Goth Cards (tm) now? Good grief.
I left my heart in Ballycastle...
