Which is less likely?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Which is less likely to happen?

we all heard many, many, many times why releasing new album is not an option: industry is, and was, s**t, everyone steals music so it's impossible to even break even, so new album (which as i wrote may be disappointment, if it contains only really new songs, not just 'new') is not what bothers A.E., that's why new album is equal possible as reunion (not to mention that this line-up seems to really like each other), of course IMHO.

Is this now officially the first "why oh why doesn't :von: release a new album" thread of 2013 ?

+1
Make that +2.
And a +3.

Both Von and Wayne have gone quite far from each other musically, as well as far from the FALAA template, that it's difficult to see how a reunion could sound like anything other than a bag of cats being kicked down the stairs.

Of course a hypothetical new LP is gonna disappoint. There's no way it could ever live up to the mountain of expectation that would be on it, but at least it would clear the slate - that's the best anyone could hope for.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

My guess is they won't end up doing another album, but there's a spark of hope they'll put out some singles. Maybe just online.

It would be a shame not to get the current band on a record IMO. The guitar sound is just fabulously good, especially on tunes like FALAA with the contrast of Ben's industrial-techno-jangle against Chris's heavy chords.

Well, they might get an entry in the Guiness Book of Records as the line-up playing for the longest time successfully together, touring the highest variety of countries with 200 gigs spread over seven years, often enough sold-out, and without any new release ... ;D ;D ;D :notworthy: ...

Under these circumstance, a new album were of course the icing on the cake, but hell, a cherry were as good ... ...

I'm not sure that there is much expextation on it. I think most of us would expect it to be a bit s**t and full of songs we've grown bored with over the last twenty years. Arguably the worst it could do is live up to expectation. Still not gonna happen though.

Although it's absolutely no f**king chance and just about absolutely no f**king chance.

If they did release a new LP and it was crap (although I don't think it would be) it would still be their fourth best album

There's also that recent radio interview where Andrew said that they aren't going to release anything unless it's "utterly, stonkingly good". Given this, the fact that Pearson's stuff apparently out of the question for release, and the pace at which Eldritch is working now that he gets to indulge himself as master of the band, a full album does seem unlikely.

"Far Parade" is so intriguing though. It reads almost like a conclusion to "First and Last and Always". I bet they'll at least release FP as a final statement before quitting (if they ever will). And I love the instrumental bit the Doctor soundchecked with at one of the Australian gigs.

Right on. And it's up to them, of course. (still, I *would* love to get the sound on a record...)
