yes it is the best place to stay in Berlin and very close to Baiz and Chocolade where you can have a great time

That depends on where in PB, along U2 is fine. However, some parts of PB are far from everywhere.
Public transport generally radiates out from Alexanderplatz and (trams) Hackescher Markt.
If I would visit Berlin for the first time and have a bit of everything, I would stay in the area bordered by Hackescher Markt, Rosenthaler Platz, Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and Alexanderplatz.
Interesting alternative that also has many transport options: The area around Warschauer Strasse.
Watch out both for hipsters and all those pretending not to be hipsters and you'll be fine

I've stayed in that area before. Crashed at the Easy Hotel, which is about 5 minutes walk from all the transport (& has a nice little bagel shop next door)euphoria wrote:

I actually do not know the area good enough to give good advice, to me it would seem too deserted, but this is Berlin so there may be new clubs/bars there that I'm not aware of. It's at least on the U8 which is a useful line to get around.

Berlin is a very large city and quite extensive ... at least for a visitor from a city like Cologne.
I've been there a few times and it was always astonishing to me how large this city actually is.
Depending on how much time you've got and what you want to do and see there,
I definitely recommend planning your ways beforehand! Public transport is ok, but ways can be very long.
From Bernauer Str. to for example Brandenburger Tor it would take half an hour only on the train/tram/bus ... apart from the walk to the next station ... ...

so it seems to me that wherever we stay there's going to be travel, which is fine by me. if i have to travel, then i'd like to stay on a tree lined road in a large quiet 6th floor apartment, than in a small one squished up in the equivalent of noisy mayfair.
which i have pointed out to my travelling companions, who are incapable of making decisions.

Ah, that's no problem either in Berlin, just search for a "Pension" (similar to B&B, in old giant appartments with at least 10 ft to the ceiling) in Charlottenburg.emilystrange wrote:. if i have to travel, then i'd like to stay on a tree lined road in a large quiet 6th floor apartment,

Just to give you an idea how they look, most are less fancy and less expensive.
Good thing in Berlin is everybody can find something to their own taste, the districts are often like totally different towns.

If you like trees, Berlin is full of them
Even in the centre you will not have a single icon in your eyes without a green tree somewhere near you
And if you like also try local cuisine you must taste the Berliner Lieber
