Machete Attack

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Woolwich Attack

Looking on Facewank this morning I'm horrified by the Jingoistic stance of posts regarding Muslims going home if they don't like it here.

The media spreads the panic and everyone jumps on the merry-go-round.

Shocking.

2 Religiously messed up individuals doesn't make a whole culture guilty FFS.

Exactly.

I don't like Islam any more than I like any other religion but it's far too easy to slip over from criticism of Islam into outright racism. (Something I think a lot of prominent atheists are guilty of... mentioning no names. And in fact I have probably been guilty of it myself.)

I would imagine that most Muslims look on this sort of thing the same way that most Christians look on people shooting abortion doctors (for example).

yup, i've found myself unfriending a few people for the ignorant racist bile they've posted

one of the best quotes i've seen on this is:
Saying those idiots represent Islam is like saying the Westboro Baptist Church represents Christianity.

It's amazing the chain reaction it has, isn't it?
Somebody just posted on my timeline they're about to unfriend several people.

Very true Steve.
Another reason to avoid Trollbook like the plague. (& most of the press).
& hats off to the Muslim Council Of Britain for distancing themselves so quickly.
They have an uphill task when nutjobs like this use Islam as a justification.
As for the press. It's become "staple" to include the words Muslim & terrorism (when was the last time you read something like, "The gun man, 26 year old John Smith (Christian)..."in the same sentence?). It's almost as common as "bread & butter".
& seemingly that's all that commentards on trollbook see.
In fact most of them DNRTFA and get the majority of their (mis)information via social networks.
& what's even worse is the fact that the media even quote those commentards in their stories at times.
These 2 guys were British & they killed another British national.
Faith or no faith, that is fcuked up.
Cheers.

Yeah that's a good point. Muslims committing murder is "terrorism", anyone else it's only murder.

Ew. it seems really odd typing "only murder" but I can't work out how else to phrase it.

Agree with that. Those who murdering others, doing terrorists attack and saying "Allahu akbar" are not much diferent than WBC (however WBC disturbing peace of mind and voilate other psychics, not health and life), or to recall history- Crusaders or Muslims during medieval times (which is more accurate). It's way too easy to slag all community, group for acts of few extremists.

Mentioned christians shooting and/or bombing abortion doctors are good example.

However probem remains- those pshyhopats are gonna be more and more dangerous and that is a problem.

Back in the good old days Torquemada and the Holy Inquisition burned people like Westboro Baptist Church members in the pyre as heretics.

Regarding Islam as religion only is a common fundamental mistake in the circles of atheists, agnostics etc.

Anyone interested to understand what was the motive and background of that machete people in England can checkout the term "House of War" in encyclopedias and other books written by people that have deeply knowledge of Islam.

Without doubt worst are to come in the future and this is sad...

& I'm not sure racism comes into this.
It's more "faithism" than anything else.

Race is something you're born with.
Faith is something you're taught.

Yes but the vast majority of Muslims in the UK are of Pakistani or Bangladeshi heritage, so your average hard-of-thinking person will equate Brown skin == Muslim.

Our local corner shop (owned by Hindus, not that it matters) was targeted by this sort of idiot not long after 9/11.

A typical effect, considering that even within religions, race is still a rank-marking factor everywhere, basically created and still utilized by colonialisms' notion of "white supremacy".

Of course, most countries in the world live in so-called postcolonialist times, but yet the ideologies, convictions and thought patterns of colonialism are given to us, if not with our mothers' milk, then by education, entertainment, everyday occurences...

Agree with most of what's been said in this thread but a little saddened that, twelve posts in, no-one has stopped to say that, religion, politics and racism aside (and yes they're all important) a young man was horrifically murdered yesterday in a busy street and his relatives and friends are now living with the aftermath.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

it's amazing that this (admittedly nasty atrocity) should have so many fuckwits swarming all over it to further their own rascict agenda. where were the english defence sheep every time a squaddie got murdered by a (white, usually) catholic? in fact at the height of "the troubles" there would be a sectarian murder (christians killing different christians) nearly every day and the only people who seemed to treat it as out of the ordinary were the ones who were directly involved/affected; for the majority of the population it was just "the news".

Yes, true ... and sad enough ... :( ... walk down a street, get hit by a car and then get slaughtered by the two guys who jump out of that car ...
that's just not normal and AFAIK, it is not allowed even under the rules of war. It is just a dirty cruelty, a sleazy crime.

But again, here you go ... it is just so horrid that the victim himself and his family and friends get involuntarily pushed into the background ...

The two killers get the media attention they sought, and the victim is mentioned in the news briefly as a twenty-something soldier and that's it.

Sad times, and I get sick of modern journalism and media nowadays...

I don't want to make it more sad, but the info that GB's journalists spread around the rest of the planet, at least at that small corner i live in, was too much info about the murderers and only that the victim was a 20yo soldier. Even videos with a kind that looked as interview with a black guy holding an a machete and hands full of blood... Journalists gave too much ground to the murderers and keep a strange silence about the victim...
There is a feeling that anyone paranoid enough to have a live interview on TV to be played across the planet from all media has the choice to decapitate some people on the street to achieve it easily...
Worst is in front with tactics like that and that is more sad than the disgusting act...

"Here's a list of violent killings, all on British streets from 1991-1999. They include: being punched to death, stabbed to death, thrown down stairs, run over by a car, set alight in a car, throat slashed, stamped to death, hit repeatedly with a chair leg, and - in one particularly brutal case - being chased and murdered by an axe to the head (which remained embedded in the head when the body was found). These attacks were fully intended to cause others to feel something akin to terror. But as the victims were all of African, Asian, Arab or Caribbean descent, they aren't terrorist attacks, there won't ever be an emergency Cobra meeting, and white people won't ever have to feel guilty for the actions of their lunatic and murderous compatriots."

A.C. Grayling has written in today's Independent that religion will always lead to extremist violence because of the mindset required to have a religious conviction. That's like saying football is responsible for hooliganism. That'll help some people justify a few more attacks on mosques then.
