Best album of 89??

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Definitely a vintage year. Classic efforts from The Cure, The Godfathers, Pixies, The Psychedelic Furs, NIN, Rose of Avalanche, The Telescopes, Love and Rockets, Nirvana and tucked down next to bottom of the list one of the candidates for greatest album of all time - L'eau rouge by The Young Gods.

Great year: New Order, Spacemen 3, Loop, NMA, Skinny Puppy, all good stuff.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

NMA, the cure ,jesus and mary chain, einsturzende neubauten & and also the trees were the highlights of the year but
still the least interesting year of the 80s
the decay that came with the 90s is already in sight..

Mmm 1989...year I got married first time around.

Apart from Ministry and Nine Inch Nails...everything, including that entire year, sucked :urff:
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

Tecnique - New Order was good and underrated
Simpole Minds - Street Fighting years was good as well after long time trhe return was too pop IMO
not great fan of New Model Army too, but also Thunder and Consolation pleases me.
A mention to Stone Roses wich was acclaimed(AFAIR) like the album of the year when it came out, not a fan myself but i recognize it was a very good debut album
The Cult Sonic Temple, better than Electric surely but not such a great work to be the best of the year
The Cure Disintegration bad attempt copy themselves :innocent: , the album in it's entirety is boring, but some tune played among others on live is not that bad
Blow - Red Lorry/Yellow Lorry simply stunning
All The Love/All The Hate - Christian Death was an explosion of styles and humors, lyrics are excellent, despite what i think of Valor Kand, both part are stunning and Disintegration seems in comparison like a OneDirection esibtion ;D
Automatic - JAMC not good as the first two their works but not really the best of the year :(

these are the albums i know of that list, nothing IMO tells me it was a good year for music and i'm in doubt

Yeah, not too bad that year!

I've picked Beastie Boys, De La Soul, Meat Beat Manifesto, Cure, Durutti Column, Ministry, Neubauten, Nirvana, Pixies and The Young Gods. Each of those I've played loads over the years...

Had to kill some darlings in the process too.

Roses, New Order, Cure, The Cult. Maybe not The Cult, but at the time definitely The Cult.
